On the Kursk direction, Russian forces continued their counteroffensive but made no advances. The 11th Separate Air Assault Brigade is engaged in battles in Martynovka, while the 51st, 119th, and 137th Airborne Regiments of the 106th Airborne Division attempt to reach Nikolaevo-Daryino, attacking near Nizhniy Klin, Daryino, and Sverdlivkovo. The occupiers attacked the east and southeast of Nizhniy Klin near Kamyshovka and southwest of Pogrebki. Battles are ongoing near Novoivanovka, Malaya Loknia, Sverdlivkovo, and Plekhovo.
The enemy employs large amounts of armored vehicles, including tanks, in the Kursk Oblast. Airborne units of the aggressor also use motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles (quad bikes).
On the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces advanced near Hlyboke, Vovchansk, and Tykhe but failed. The occupiers achieved minor progress in Vovchansk. Battles are ongoing near Lyptsi. The enemy has intensified actions along the Kozacha Lopan–Slatyne line, with an increase in cross-border raids toward Kozacha Lopan.
On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces attacked near Fyholivka, Holubivka, and Kindrashivka, consolidated positions on the western bank of the Oskil River near Dvorichna. They attempted to advance westward from Vyshneve, near Kopanky, and attacked in the area of Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi, Kolisnykivka, Kruhlyakivka, Zahryzove, Lozova, Zelenyi Hai, Pershotravneve, and Raihorodka.
On the Lyman direction, Russian forces advanced on the eastern outskirts of Terny and attacked near Tverdokhlibove, Hrekivka, Yampolivka, Terny, Torske, and Serebriansk Forest.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces continued assaults near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Bila Hora, but without success. The enemy is consolidating positions near the refractory materials plant in Chasiv Yar, engaging in battles near high-rise buildings and the “Avangard” stadium in the city center, and advanced in wooded areas northwest of Kurdyumivka.
Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked west of Klishchiivka.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces advanced north along Hinka Street in southern Toretsk, on the southern outskirts of Nelipivka, into the forest south of Toretsk, and into the western part of Zabalka. They continued assaults near Toretsk, in the areas of Dyliivka and Druzhba.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces advanced to the center of Zhovte and are advancing in the forests northeast of the village. They captured Pustynka, progressed south of Lysivka, and reached a line 6 km from Pokrovsk's outskirts near Zhovte. The enemy also attacked near Lysivka and Pushkyne. Battles are ongoing near Myrolyubivka, Promin, Krutyi Yar, Dachenske, Novyi Trud, Pustynka, and Chumatske.
On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces advanced west of Berestky toward dachas and forests near Stari Terny, toward Dalnie, and captured positions along the Berestky–Voznesenka railway line. They are advancing west of Illinka. The enemy continues unsuccessful attacks near Kurakhove, Sontsivka, Novodmytrivka, Zoria, and Dalnie.
On the Vremivka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces reclaimed lost positions northeast of Vuhledar and made minor advances on the northwestern outskirts of Yelyzavetivka.
The 37th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 36th Army and the 40th Separate Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet captured Rozdolne. The 39th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade and the 1472nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 68th Army Corps advanced near Trudove and reached a line 2 km from Konstyantynopolske. Russian forces are clearing positions in the forest near Yelyzavetivka, consolidating in Illinka, and attacked near Veselyi Hai, north of Yasna Polyana, and in the areas of Romanivka, Konstyantynopolske, Sukhi Yaly, and Rozlyv. They progressed along the Shaitanka River west of Novodonetske toward Blahodatne and from Rivnopil toward Makarivka, storming Ukrainian Defense Forces' positions on the northeastern and eastern outskirts of Velyka Novosilka, near Rivnopil, Novodarivka, and Novopil.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces advanced northeast of Robotyne, south of Mala Tokmachka, and entered Bilohirya. They are preparing for offensives on the Huliaypole and Orikhiv directions by conducting airstrikes, aerial reconnaissance, and engineering operations. The enemy is accumulating equipment and ammunition, preparing additional assault groups, and increasing electronic warfare and air defense systems in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
On the Prydniprovskyi direction, positional battles continued with no changes in the front line. Russian forces unsuccessfully attempted to capture islands in the Dnipro River delta, relocating river boats with a strength of up to a battalion from occupied Crimea to the Kinburn and Tendrivska Spits to bolster defenses against potential Ukrainian Defense Forces’ raids in the delta near Kherson.
General conclusion:
The immediate objective of the Russian "Zapad (West)" Operational Grouping on the Kupyansk direction is to eliminate the northern section of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ bridgehead and occupy the area of Kivsharivka – Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi – Kucherivka – Petropavlivka.
The situation in Toretsk remains extremely challenging due to Russian aviation and artillery strikes, as well as intense close quarters combat in the city.
On the Vremivka direction, Russian forces have two main objectives: to cut off the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ logistics between Velyka Novosilka and Kurakhove, and to capture Velyka Novosilka itself.
The situation is more difficult for Ukrainian Defense Forces east of Velyka Novosilka, where Russian troops have recently advanced, but worsening weather conditions complicate the use of drones by the enemy, forcing them to rely on infantry for further progress in this area.
Near Velyka Novosilka, Russian units employ armored vehicles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (quad bikes or buggies), and air support to push forward in the region.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, at least 80,937 Russian soldiers have died in Ukraine. Half of the personnel who died were conscripted during the aggression. Volunteer servicemen comprise 22% of the total force and typically die within two to four weeks of arriving at the front lines. Convicts account for 18% of total losses.

On the Vremivka direction, the enemy conducted 26 assaults near Veselyi Hai, Konstyantynopolske, Sukhi Yaly, Rozdolne, and Novodarivka, actively employing assault and bomber aviation.
On the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian invaders attacked 5 times, were met with fierce resistance, and suffered losses.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Black Sea: 2 ships, including 2 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 0 cruise missiles.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
The redeployment of the 104th Air Assault Division from the Kherson direction to the Kursk Oblast is expected.
The 346th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Mobilization Reserve is engaged in combat near Olgovka, while the 83rd Separate Air Assault Brigade operates along the international border in the Sudzha district.
The 16th Separate SOF Brigade is fighting south of Makiivka and near Torske.
The 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army is advancing near Berestky. The 102nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division of the 8th Army is advancing near Dalnie, the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army is engaged in combat in Kurakhove.
The 33rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division of the 8th Army is active near Antonivka. The 14th Separate SOF Brigade operates in the southern part of Donetsk Oblast.
The 5th Separate Tank Brigade of the 36th Army is active in the area of Velyka Novosilka – Rozdolne, while the 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 5th Army operates near Makarivka.
Units of the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 49th Army are massively abandoning their positions in the Prydniprovskyi direction. The brigade is suffering from a high rate of desertion due to systematic abuse by its command.
Possible operation situation developments:
On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy will try to break through the "Khortytsia" OSG defense near Kruhlyakivka and advance southward toward Bohuslavka and Nova Kruhlyakivka; attack Lozova and move toward Nova Kruhlyakivka; breach the "Khortytsia" OSG defense at Pershotravneve toward Kopanky and Novoserhiyivka, forcing Ukrainian Defense Forces to retreat from positions near Novoyehorivka under the threat of encirclement.
On the Kramatorsk direction, if the enemy manages to advance to the Chervone–Stupochky line and simultaneously begins intensive northward attacks at the junction of its 41st and 51st Armies from the Novooleksandrivka–Arkhanhelske line, reaching the Yablunivka–Oleksandro-Kalynove line on the Toretsk direction, then the "Khortytsia" OSG will be forced to withdraw towards Kostyantynivka. South of Chasiv Yar, the enemy attacks toward Zemlyanka and Pivdenne, advancing westward and southward of Klishchiivka. Fighting continues for Andriivka; the situation on this direction is challenging. If it does not improve, Chasiv Yar could be lost by mid-January, or in the worst-case scenario, by the end of December.
On the Vremivka direction, the main forces of the 5th Combined Arms Army of the "Vostok" Grouping (127th Motorized Rifle Division and the 57th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade) are expected to be deployed into the operation. The 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade has been deployed into operation near Makarivka.
The enemy will continue advancing westward along the H15 highway toward Andriivka while simultaneously attacking the Defense Forces' bridgehead northeast of Vuhledar along the Uspenivka–Hannivka–Romanivka line, aiming to force "Tavriya" OSG units to withdraw westward under the threat of encirclement. Such a maneuver could allow Russian forces to seize advantageous tactical positions in this area and align the frontline from Sontsivka to Kostiantynopil, positioning Russian troops approximately 23 km east of the Donetsk–Dnipropetrovsk oblast border.
By the end of the current year, the enemy will not succeed in seizing the "belt of fortresses" Kostyantynivka – Druzhkivka – Kramatorsk – Sloviansk or occupying Donetsk Oblast. The upcoming battle for Pokrovsk will mark the apex of the enemy’s offensive operation in the Southwestern Theater of Operations in 2024.
The expected sequence of enemy actions for capturing Pokrovsk is as follows: first, the 90th Tank Division of the 41st Combined Arms Army and the 27th Motorized Rifle Division of the 2nd Combined Arms Army will break through to the area south of Pokrovsk. Afterward, the main forces of the 2nd and 41st Combined Arms Armies will advance from the direction of Mykolaivka toward Myrnohrad (via Promin). Another possible maneuver could involve an advance from Hrodivka toward Novoekonomichne, with attempts to break through along the railway directly to Pokrovsk from the direction of Novohrodivka.
The enemy's military command in the theater of operations until March 2025 will be creating conditions to achieve the military-political goal of the Special Military Operation: reaching the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts and the junction of Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk Oblasts near the village of Temyrivka.
