Operational situation
In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) "Kharkiv" on the Kharkiv direction, 3 clashes occurred. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian advances near Starytsya, Tykhe, and Vovchansk.
In the "Khortytsia" Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, the enemy conducted offensive actions near Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Lozova, Stelmakhivka, and Kolisnykivka. On the Lyman direction, Russian occupiers stormed Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Nevske, Novosadove, and Torske. On the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 4 enemy attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, and Spirne. On the Kramatorsk direction, 10 battles occurred near Minkivka, Hryhorivka, and Bila Hora. Seventeen clashes took place on the Toretsk direction, where Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Leonidivka.
In the "Tavriya" OSG operational zone, 39 battles occurred on the Pokrovsk direction in the areas of Zelenе Polе, Mykolaivka, Lisivka, Krutyi Yar, Novohrodivka, Selidove, Marynivka, and Krasnyi Yar. On the Kurakhove direction, the enemy launched 34 assaults near Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Druhe, Heorhiivka, Mykolaivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostyantynivka, and Katerynivka. On the Vremivka direction, the enemy made 5 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian Defense Forces from positions near Vodyane, Katerynivka, and Bohoyavlenka. Three clashes occurred on the Orikhiv direction, where Russian occupiers attacked near Robotyne.
In the operational zone of "Odesa" OSG on the Prydniprovskiy direction, the occupiers suffered defeat after two failed assaults on Ukrainian defense positions.
General conclusion:
The enemy occupied the "Pivdennodonbaska No. 3" mine. The enemy's command is attempting to encircle the entire “Tavriya” OSG’s Vuhledar defense area.
The “Tavriya” OSG command failed to anticipate in time the actions of the 29th Combined Arms Army and the 68th Army Corps of the enemy's “Vostok (East)” Operational Grouping in support of the “Yug (South)” Operational Grouping in the area of Vuhledar, which has led to a difficult situation.
The enemy's breakthrough past the Zhuravka River in the Mykolaivka-Hrodivka sector and their advance between Tsukuryne and Selydove towards the railway leading north to Pokrovsk poses a threat.
The situation on the Vremivka direction may escalate, as the enemy is concentrating assault groups near Pryiutne.
Another army, the 51st, has effectively been incorporated into the enemy's “Tsentr (Center)” Operational Grouping, following the expansion of the front in the operational zone toward Pokrovsk.
Preserving control of Selydove by Ukrainian Defense Forces means the enemy's chances of encircling or attempting to cut off “Tavriya” OSG units, which are defending south of the Tsukuryne-Zhelanne Druhe line, including the area near Hirnyk, are fairly low.
Change in the line of contact (LoC):
There were 181 combat engagements on various fronts.
On the Kursk Direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces continued their assaults in the areas of Novyi Put, Vesioloe, and Medvezhie, attacked Russian positions on the outskirts of Liubimovka.
Russian forces counterattacked near Novyi Put, Liubimovka, Dariivka, Nikolaevo-Dariivka, Plekhovo, and repelled “Siversk” OTG attacks by in the direction of Obukhovka.
On the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces advanced slightly south of Hlyboke, continued attacks near Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Vovchansk, and Tykhe, and destroyed a bridge over the Vovcha River on Soborna Street in Vovchansk, complicating maneuverability for Ukrainian Defense Forces units.
On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces advanced north of Pishchane and pushed Ukrainian units back from positions near Kruhlyakivka. They attacked in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, Kruhlyakivka, and Lozova.
On the Lyman direction, Russian forces advanced in the northern part of Makiivka and captured most of it, attacking near Novosadove, Hrekivka, Nevske, Novolyubivka, Torske, Zarichne, and in the direction of Yampil.
On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces continued their offensive near Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, and Spirne, but were unable to make progress on any front.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces made slight advances in the western part of Kalynivka, toward Stupochky, and continued offensives near Minkivka, Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Bila Hora.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces continued their offensive near Toretsk, making slight progress in the city center, and continued assaults near Nelipivka, Leonidivka, and in the direction of Shcherbynivka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces advanced on the eastern outskirts of Mykolaivka, to the north and northeast of the village, on the northern outskirts of Hirnyk, and advanced along the railway line north of Tsukuryne. They continued their offensive in the areas of Zelenе Polе, Novotoretske, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Krutyi Yar, Novohrodivka, Lisivka, Selydove, Marynivka, Tsukuryne, Hirnyk, and Zhelanne Druhe. Prolonged attempts by the enemy to break through toward Selidove from the southeast ended in failure, forcing their forward units to retreat south. Attempts to break through into Selydove from Mykhailivka and Marynivka also failed.
On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces continued their assaults near Heorhiivka and Maksymilianivka.
On the Vremivka direction, units of the 36th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Combined Arms Army advanced on the eastern outskirts of Vuhledar up to the ATB supermarket and PrivatBank branch, reaching almost the western outskirts of the city by crossing the Pavlivka-Bohoyavlenka road, north of Prechystivka, and south of Vodyane, in the direction of Katerynivka, and north of Staromayorske. They also attacked near Kostyantynivka and in the direction of Bohoyavlenka. The 39th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 68th Army Corps, supported by the 430th Motorized Rifle Regiment, continued to compress the defensive line of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade in Vuhledar from both the west and east.
Ukrainian Defense Forces maintained their positions in Vuhledar and Kostyantynivka. The route to Bohoyavlenka remains the only available retreat route for Ukrainian Defense Forces units operating in Vuhledar.
On the Orikhiv direction, positional fighting continued near Robotyne and Novoandriivka. Units of the 503rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, 239th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion, and 19th Motorized Rifle Division of the 58th Combined Arms Army attacked north of Nesteryanka.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Black Sea: 3 ships, including 2 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 8 cruise missiles.
Mediterranean Sea: 1 ship, 1 cruise missile carrier; the total salvo is 16 cruise missiles.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
The 17th Artillery Brigade of the 3rd Army Corps is operating south of Chasiv Yar in the direction of Chervone.
The 15th Army Aviation Brigade and the 332nd Separate Helicopter Regiment of the 6th Air Force and Air Defense Army, are providing direct support to ground forces and carrying out several other tasks in the interest of the enemy's “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping. To increase the intensity of direct air support in the operational zone of the “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping, the command of the enemy's Air Force and Air Defense is speeding up the formation of the 41st Helicopter Regiment (number to be clarified) at Buturlinovka Air Base. The regiment is expected to include two combat squadrons (equipped with Ka-52 and Mi-28N helicopters) and one transport-combat squadron (equipped with Mi-8AMTSh helicopters).
The Chechen detachment "Akhmat" is operating near Lukyantsi, and a former “Wagner” PMC detachment is operating in the northern part of Kharkiv Oblast.
The enemy reinforced the combat formations of the 2nd Combined Arms Army in this direction by transferring part of the 41st Combined Arms Army's forces from the Toretsk direction: the 55th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade is already operating in the direction of Vozdvyzhenka and Zelene Pole. The combat formations of the 27th Motorized Rifle Division will soon be reinforced by units from the 35th and 74th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades of the 41st Combined Arms Army. On the Toretsk direction, the attack lanes of the units of the 41st Combined Arms Army will be taken over by the troops of the 51st Combined Arms Army—specifically the 1st, 9th, and 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades.
Possible operation situation developments:
The "Tavriya" OSG’s 72nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade is expected retreat in the northwest direction in the coming days to avoid encirclement.
The enemy's military command in the theater of operations will concentrate efforts on maximizing their advance towards Pokrovsk-Pavlohrad, in the direction of the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, and aiming to reach the junction of Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk Oblasts near the village of Temyrivka. This would create the necessary conditions to achieve the military-political goal of the Special Military Operation: reaching the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.
The enemy's military command in the Azov Sea region will aim to hold the left bank of the Dnipro River both in its delta and directly on the Zaporizhzhia direction, while simultaneously attempting to create operational conditions in the operational zones of the "Vostok (East)" and "Yug (South)" Operational Groupings. This would fully prevent "Tavriya" OSG from launching any offensive operations towards Berdiansk and Mariupol.
The enemy will soon reach the left bank of the Oskil River in the Hlushkivka-Kruhlyakivka sector and split the "Khortytsia" OSG bridgehead on the Oskil River into two parts: a smaller northern (Kupyansk) and a larger southern (Borova) section.
Ukrainian Defense Forces are expected to leave Toretsk, Selydove, and Vuhledar in the short term.
Securing a breakthrough toward Kurakhove remains the primary objective for the enemy's "Yug (South)" Operational Grouping, particularly its 20th and 150th Motorized Rifle Divisions of the 8th Combined Arms Army. However, they lack the reserves necessary to achieve this.
By the end of this year, the enemy will not only fail to occupy Donetsk Oblast within its administrative borders but also will be unable to seize the "fortress belt" of Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka-Kramatorsk-Slovyansk. The upcoming battle for Pokrovsk will be the climax of the enemy's offensive operation in the Southwestern Theater of Operations in 2024.

Humanitarian + general:
On the night of September 27, Russian forces launched 32 kamikaze drones at Ukraine, fired a ballistic "Iskander" missile, and two Kh-22 cruise missiles. Air defense forces shot down 24 "Shahed" drones. One drone entered Romanian airspace, and three others were lost due to electronic warfare measures by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Three people were killed, and 14 others injured, including three children, following a morning drone attack by Russia on the city of Izmail in Odesa Oblast. The attack damaged private homes, apartment buildings, outbuildings, and vehicles.
On the night of September 27, Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on Dnipro, damaging an industrial facility and causing a fire. No casualties were reported. That same night, invaders also targeted Nikopol and the Marhanets community in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with kamikaze drones and heavy artillery, causing infrastructure damage but no casualties.
On the morning of September 27, Russian forces struck Kherson and the village of Inhulets in Kherson Oblast, injuring five civilians, including two children aged 4 and 15.
Around 9:15 a.m. on September 27, Russian troops launched a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, hitting the National Police headquarters. Three people were killed, and six others injured. More people may be trapped under the rubble.
On September 27, the Russian army struck Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk districts of Donetsk Oblast, wounding seven civilians.
During the day, Russian forces attacked a civilian vehicle in Kherson using a drone, injuring an 82-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man.
On September 27, nine children and a 20-year-old man were returned to Ukraine from Russia and temporarily occupied territories. The returned individuals are aged 13 to 17, with some having disabilities or severe illnesses.
