Russia’s war on Ukraine. 24.11.25
Operational situation
On the Northern Slobozhansky direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces are trying to seize the initiative in the direction, counterattacked towards Oleksiivka and Varachyne.
Assault groups of the 30th and 41st Motorized Rifle Regiments of the 72nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 44th Army Corps made several unsuccessful attempts to advance in the direction of Yablunivka – Khrapivshchyna and Varachyne – Korchakivka. Attempts by units of the 44th Army Corps and the 810th Separate Marine Brigade to break through in the direction of Loknia – Sadky and Oleshnia – Sadky ended in failure. The enemy failed to occupy the northeastern part of the forest between Sadky and the state border line and the area north of the village. Russian command also unsuccessfully attempted to advance south of Yunakivka to bypass this area from the west and break through towards Maryine. The 51st Airborne Regiment of the 106th Airborne Division stopped its advance in the forested areas near Sadky due to a lack of manpower. The 1st Consolidated Rifle Regiment of the Strategic Missile Forces of the Russian Armed Forces is moving from the Volodymyrivka area to Oleksiivka. The enemy command failed to replace the 1427th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 11th Army Corps in Tetkino.
On the Southern Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops attacked near Vovchansk, Synelnykove, Lyman, Khatnie, in the direction of Vilcha. The enemy strikes Ukrainian positions near Obukhivka and Hnylytske Pershe with Geran-2 UAVs and attacks Kolodyazne with FAB-500 bombs.
Having crossed the Vovcha River west of Vovchansk, units of the 128th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 44th Combined Arms Army, along with several units of the 11th Combined Arms Army, conduct assault operations through the forest west of the city and the residential sector of the city southward. General conclusion:
The command of the enemy’s “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping attempts to resume the offensive and unsuccessfully attempts to restore the offensive on the Northern Slobozhanske Direction. The enemy command is forced to divert a significant part of its forces and assets to defend the area of Oleksiivka and Kostyantynivka, as Ukrainian Defense Forces periodically counterattack the enemy from Kindrativka and Andriivka, pushing the enemy toward the state border.
On the Southern Slobozhanske Direction, the enemy has been attempting to break through toward the area of Synelnykove – Tsehelne – Vilcha – Lyman for the third week. Over the month since the enemy intensified actions on the Vovchansk Direction, it has only managed to cross the Vovcha River on a fairly wide section and has not achieved other results. The command of the enemy “Belgorod” Tactical Grouping aims to collapse the defense of Ukrainian units in the southern part of Vovchansk, bypassing it from the west and using the forested area and single-family home sector in the southwestern part of the city to concentrate and advance its assault groups. The enemy clearly attempts to maximally complicate logistical support of Ukrainian Defense Forces units conducting combat operations on the Vovchansk Direction and their maneuvering along the frontline east of the Siverskyi Donets, advancing along the Siverskyi Donets and from the direction of Bilyi Kolodiaz.
The command of the enemy’s “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping has clarified the allocation of operational zones of the 6th Combined Arms Army and the 1st Tank Army. The 6th Combined Arms Army of the “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping will operate toward Velykyi Burluk, the 1st Tank Army toward Kupyansk. The 6th Combined Arms Army will push Ukrainian Defense Forces from the entire eastern bank of the Siverskyi Donets in the northeastern part of Kharkiv Oblast.
The enemy attempts to bypass the strong defensive hub of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the area of Kolodyazne from the north, advancing through Odradne, and from the south, advancing toward Novovasylivka and Mytrofanivka.
On the Sloviansk Direction, the occupiers intensively attack toward Siversk, attempt to clear roads for armored vehicle movement, and attempt to establish themselves on the outskirts of Siversk for a further assault on the city.
The situation on the Pokrovsk Direction remains complex and dynamic. Russian forces continue to advance and attempt to encircle the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad bridgehead of Ukrainian Defense Forces. Russian assault activity increases in Myrnohrad. The enemy suffers heavy losses during attempts to advance north of Pokrovsk across the railway.

In the village of Sontsivka, an ammunition depot for UAVs of the 6th Tank Regiment of the 90th Tank Division of the 41st Combined Arms Army was struck. An ammunition depot was destroyed in Dokuchaievsk, Donetsk Oblast. In the village of Rybynske, a concentration area of the logistics unit of the enemy “Vostok (East)” Operational Grouping was struck.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
In Vovchansk, elements of the 2nd Battalion of the 128th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 44th Army Corps are operating. The 1431st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 11th Army Corps conducts UAV strikes against Ukrainian positions near Alisivka.

The 71st Motorized Rifle Division and the 80th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 14th Army Corps are held in reserve of the enemy’s “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping.
The 58th Separate SOF Battalion of the 51st Combined Arms Army conducts strikes against Ukrainian forces near Kostyantynivka, the 78th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 58th Combined Arms Army operates near Pleshchiivka and Ivanopillya.
The 57th Separate SOF Company of the 8th Combined Arms Army conducts strikes against Ukrainian positions near Shakhove, the 33rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division of the army operates toward Dobropillya.
The 80th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion and the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Combined Arms Army operate near Myrnohrad.
The 127th Motorized Rifle Division of the 5th Combined Arms Army operates toward Huliaypole.
The 7th Air Assault Division operates near Prymorske, the 1430th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 58th Combined Arms Army operates in the southern part of Novodanylivka, and elements of the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division of the army attack from Mala Tokmachka toward the eastern outskirts of Orikhove.
Possible operation situation developments:
The Defense Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry assesses that while the enemy is unlikely to capture all of Donetsk Oblast by the spring of 2026, it may reach the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia and the Sloviansk–Kramatorsk area by early winter. Additionally, if current fighting continues at the same pace, the enemy could possibly take control of Pokrovsk, Kostyantynivka, Druzhkivka, and Kupyansk no earlier than year’s end.
On the Southern Slobozhanske Direction, the enemy will attempt to reach the Vovchansk – Staryi Saltiv road near Tsehelne and the highway to Rubizhne. If the enemy reaches this line, it will disrupt the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ formations in the southern part of Vovchansk and significantly complicate their situation due to the considerable flank threat that would arise under such a development of events.
For the implementation of the offensive plan in the northeast of Kharkiv Oblast east of the Siverskyi Donets along directions converging on Velykyi Burluk, the 6th Combined Arms Army will advance from the Vovchansk – Bilyi Kolodyaz direction and from the bridgehead on the Oskil through Hryhorivka.
On the Kupyansk Direction, the 6th Combined Arms Army will bypass Kupyansk as deeply as possible in the general direction of the Chuhuiv – Kupyansk highway and will fight for the area of Mala Shapkivka – Velyka Shapkivka – Kindrashivka – Tyshchenkivka. The enemy will redeploy additional forces to the areas of Krasne Pershe, Odradne and Dvorichanske. Continued active offensive actions are expected in the Odradne – Hryhorivka direction and from Krasne Pershe toward Novovasylivka and Mytrofanivka. To support its actions, the enemy will attempt to seize Ambarne, after which it will attack Fiholivka from the bridgehead near Novomlynsk.
On the Lyman direction, the troops of the enemy’s 20th Combined Arms Army will attempt to reach the Siverskyi Donets River along the widest possible front, cut all main routes that do not cross the river, and block the town of Lyman from the northwest, for which they will advance toward the area of Yarova–Novoselivka–Drobysheve–Pryshyb. Ukrainian Defense Forces’ 11th Army Corps will continue to defend along the Novoselivka–Stavky line.
The enemy’s “Yug (South)” Operational Grouping will attack in the directions of Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka and Druzhkivka, attempting to cut the H20 highway Kostyantynivka–Sloviansk, which will complicate the logistics of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ 19th Army Corps in Kostyantynivka. The enemy will deliver concentric strikes simultaneously from Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, the Kleban-Byk Reservoir, and from the Poltavka–Novoolenivka line.
The command of the “Tsentr (Center)” Operational Grouping has clearly sensed the possibility of a relatively organized withdrawal of Ukrainian Defense Forces from the encirclement the enemy is creating, particularly from Myrnohrad. To prevent this, the aggressor is making efforts to achieve a deeper envelopment of the Pokrovsk defense area from the west, advancing north from the Udachne–Kotlyne line and attempting to break through toward Hryshyne. A withdrawal of Defense Forces elements from Myrnohrad to the Dobropillya area could affect the overall situation regarding its bridgehead west of the Kazennyi Torets. To prevent deterioration of the situation, the 51st Combined Arms Army will urgently organize and conduct counterattacks in the areas of Ivanivka and Nove Shakhove.
On the Oleksandrivka direction, the main operational-tactical objective of the command of the enemy’s “Vostok (East)” Operational Grouping is to envelop the Huliaypole defensive area from the north and block its main lines of communication, primarily from the Pokrovske side. The enemy will try to break through to the Khaychur River and to the Huliaypole–Pokrovske road on the Dobropillya–Varvarivka section and will attempt to reach Pokrovske directly from the southeast with the forces of the 36th Combined Arms Army and the right flank of the 5th Combined Arms Army.
On the Orikhiv direction, the “Dnepr” Operational Grouping will attempt to break through along the left bank of the Dnipro River from the Plavni – Kamianske line toward Stepnohirsk and from the Stepove – Mali Shcherbaky line in the northern direction.
On the Prydniprovske direction, the command of the enemy’s “Dnepr” Operational Grouping will continue trying to take control of most of the island zone in the Dnipro delta in the direction of Kherson, will try to create a tactical bridgehead on the right bank, and to eliminate the tactical bridgeheads of the 30th Marine Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the area of the automobile and railway bridges near Antonivka.

Humanitarian + general:
On the night of November 24, Russia attacked Ukraine with 162 strike UAVs, over 80 of which were Shaheds. The air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine neutralized or suppressed 125 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types. Hits by 37 strike UAVs were recorded at 15 locations, and debris fell in one location.
At night, the enemy attacked the energy infrastructure of Donetsk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. The most difficult situation is in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – over 60,000 consumers are without electricity. In Kharkiv Oblast, around 10,000 households lost power due to the attack.
On Sunday evening, around 21:30, Kharkiv came under a massive attack by enemy strike UAVs. Four people were killed, and at least 13 were injured, including two children. Fifteen strikes were recorded across six locations, including a hit on a private house in the Saltivskyi district and a fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Three residential buildings were destroyed, and energy infrastructure, the heating network, and a transformer substation were seriously damaged.
On the night of November 24, Russian forces struck port infrastructure in the south of Odesa Oblast, hitting equipment. A fire broke out on a non-operational ship and was quickly extinguished by rescuers. No casualties were reported.
As a result of Russian UAV strikes on Chernihiv Oblast, two people were injured and fires broke out. A Shahed drone fell in a private sector, causing a house fire. Two people suffered burns.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, over three years and nine months, Russia has committed 868 crimes against journalists and media in Ukraine, according to the Institute of Mass Information. In October–November, Russian forces killed three media workers who were defending Ukraine with weapons in hand.
Men conscripted into the Russian Armed Forces from temporarily occupied territory in Kherson Oblast, after initial military training, are being returned to the occupied territories, effectively to the front line, despite promises they would not fight. According to Sergey Danylov, Deputy Director of the Middle East Research Center, the Russians decided to turn conscripts from temporarily occupied territory into “cannon fodder,” unlike conscripts from Russian territory. According to unconfirmed data, about five thousand men from temporarily occupied Kherson Oblast could have been conscripted for mandatory military service. The First Deputy Head of the Kherson Oblast Council, Yurii Sobolevskyi, also confirms individual cases of conscripts along with contract soldiers from temporarily occupied territories being used in combat, noting that this trend exists, although the exact number is unknown.
As of early autumn, 178,391 Russian war crimes were being investigated in Ukraine.
