On the Northern Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops attacked near Stepove, Novokostyantynivka, Kindrativka, Yunakivka, Varachyne.
Ukrainian Defense Forces pushed the enemy back near Andriivka.
On the Southern Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops tried to advance to Khatnie, and attacked near Vovchansk, Synelnykove, and Ambarne.

On the Siversk direction, Russian troops fought in Serebrianka, attacked in the direction of Dronivka, near Hryhorivka, Vyimka, Ivano-Dariivka, Pereyizne, and Fedorivka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops attacked near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyne, Mykolaivka, in the direction of Virolyubivka, and delivered a massive fire strike on Ukrainian storage facilities and positions in Kramatorsk with "Geran-2" UAVs, unguided aerial bombs, and TOS-1A heavy flamethrower systems.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian troops advanced north of Oleksandro-Shultyne, east of Katerynivka, northwest of Rusyn Yar, fought for Kleban-Byk, and attacked near Toretsk, Bila Hora, Kostyantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Poltavka, Nelipivka, Popiv Yar, Stepanivka, and Shcherbynivka.

On the Novopavlivka direction, Russian troops tried to advance west of Filiya, north of Temyrivka, east of Novoivanivka, in the direction of Zaporizke, and attacked near Muravka, Dachne, Ivanivka, Zelenyi Hai, Tovste, Voskresenka, Maliivka, Olhivske, Vilne Pole, Temyrivka, Zaporizke, and Shevchenkove.
The 37th Separate Marines Brigade and the 214th Separate Assault Battalion of the OPFOR Defense Forces stopped the enemy's advance and liberated Zelenyi Hai. The liberation of the village of Tovste began.
On the Huliaypole direction, Russian troops tried to advance near Temyrivka, Olhivske, and Malynivka.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops tried to enter Stepnohirsk, and attacked near Plavni, Kamianske, and Stepove.
General conclusion:
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces regroup in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast for a further offensive and conduct strike-reconnaissance actions near Plavni and Kamianske.

On the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted 20 attacks, trying to break into Ukrainian defense in the areas of Hrekivka, Ridkodub, Karpivka, Kolodyazne, Myr, and in the direction of Shandryholove, Dronivka, and Serebrianka.
On the Siversk direction, the enemy made 12 attempts to advance in the areas of Hryhorivka, Pereyizne, Fedorivka, and in the direction of Siversk.
On the Kramatorsk direction, 16 combat engagements took place in the Chasiv Yar area and in the direction of Markove, Stupochky, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora.
On the Toretsk direction, the enemy made 10 attacks in the Shcherbynivka area and in the direction of Pleshchiivka, Katerynivka, Poltavka, and Popiv Yar.
On the Pokrovsk direction, 52 assault actions of the aggressor were stopped near Mayak, Nykanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Krasnyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Myrolyubivka, Sukhyi Yar, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Orikhove Novoukrainka, and in the direction of Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Balahan, Molodetske, and Filiya.
On the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy carried out 33 attacks in the areas of Vilne Pole, Maliivka, Voskresenka, Temyrivka, Olhivka, and in the direction of Filiya, Ivanivka, and Zaporizke.
On the Orikhiv direction, an enemy attack was repelled in the area of Kamianske.
On the Prydniprovske direction, the enemy made 2 unsuccessful attempts to attack the positions of Ukrainian units.
Supporting operation:
Defense Forces launched UAV strikes on military and infrastructure facilities in the Bryansk, Kaluga, Smolensk, Kursk, Leningrad, Moscow, Tver, Novgorod, Oryol, Tambov Oblasts, and the Chuvash Republic.
In Samara Oblast, the Syzran oil refinery was hit, and in Leningrad Oblast, the Ust-Luga port, including the terminals of the NOVATEK company, was hit.
Air traffic was temporarily restricted at the airports of Samara, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, St. Petersburg, and Kazan.

Possible operation situation developments:
According to the assessment of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the enemy will not be able to achieve the goal of the so-called special military operation to capture the entire Donetsk Oblast by the end of 2025. Provided current dynamics of combat operations are maintained, the enemy will be able to capture Pokrovsk by autumn, Kostyantynivka and Kupyansk by the end of the year, and reach the close approaches to Zaporizhzhia and the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration by early winter.
The command of the enemy's “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping, in cooperation with the right flank of the “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping, will expand its bridgehead northeast of Velykyi Burluk in the Southern Slobozhansky direction and will try to capture Khatnie.
On the Kupyansk direction, the command of the enemy's “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping will try to envelop the entire Kupyansk defense area of the “Khortytsia” OSG as deeply as possible from the north. The enemy will consolidate on the northern outskirts of Kupyansk and will try to paralyze the logistics support of Ukrainian Defense Forces' units defending in the city itself and east of it. The enemy will break through from the north and northeast to the R-07 Kharkiv–Chuhuiv–Kupyansk highway, attacking in the directions of Radkivka–Kovalivka and Radkivka–Myrne.
On the Lyman direction, the 25th Combined Arms Army will try to completely eliminate the bridgehead of Ukrainian Defense Forces on the northern bank of the Siverskyi Donets river in the area of the Serebriansk Forest. The troops of the 3rd Army Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces will soon be forced to leave their positions in the Serebriansk Forest and withdraw behind the Chornyi Zherebets river. Ukrainian units will withdraw towards Yampil and will try to stop the enemy along the Chornyi Zherebets river.
On the Siversk direction, the command of the enemy's "Yug (South)" Operational Grouping will attempt to eliminate the Siversk salient held by "Khortytsia" OSG and break through towards the Sloviansk – Kramatorsk agglomeration. The 3rd Combined Arms Army will try to break through to the northern bank of the Siverskyi Donets River between Yampil and Hryhorivka, and from the southeast – toward Siversk. In the near future, the enemy will try to capture Pereyizne and attack Zvanivka along the eastern bank of the Bakhmutka River, trying to break through to Siversk from the south.
On the Toretsk direction, the troops of the 19th Army Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces will have to leave the Shcherbynivka-Novospaske-Katerynivka-Kleban Byk area, retreat south of the Kleban Byk reservoir, and try to stop the advance of the enemy's 3rd and 8th Combined Arms Armies on the Pleshchiivka – Oleksandro-Shultyne line and go on the defensive in the area of Dovha Balka – Illinivka – Berestok – Stepanivka.
Russian forces will attack in the direction of Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka and Druzhkivka to cut the Н20 Kostyantynivka-Sloviansk highway and complicate the logistics of Ukrainian Defense Forces in Kostyantynivka, thereby facilitating the capture of the "fortress belt". Russian forces may also try to advance northwest of Chasiv Yar in the direction of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, transferring part of the troops to attack along the E40 Bakhmut – Sloviansk highway for this purpose, thereby creating conditions for an assault on the "fortress belt" from the northeast.
On the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy will develop its success in the area northeast of the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration in the operational zone of the 51st Combined Arms Army. Russian forces will advance from the southwest and northeast in an effort to envelop Pokrovsk and disrupt the logistical routes of the 9th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The 51st Combined Arms Army will continue to bypass the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration from the north and northeast and will try to advance as deeply as possible to Dobropillya, which will sharply worsen the prospects for the defense of not only Dobropillya and Pokrovsk, but also Druzhkivka and Kostyantynivka. The 2nd Combined Arms Army will then proceed to assault Pokrovsk from the south and southwest.
On the Novopavlivka direction, the command of the enemy's “Vostok (East)” Operational Grouping in the operational zones of the 36th and 29th Combined Arms Armies will try to capture the area between the Vovcha and Mokri Yaly rivers and Vorona and Vovcha rivers and reach the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in the Ivanivka-Temyrivka section.

Humanitarian + general:
In the night of August 24, the enemy attacked Ukraine with an "Iskander-M" ballistic missile and 72 unmanned aerial vehicles, of which the Air Force managed to shoot down or suppress 48; a missile and 24 drones hit ten locations.
In the morning of August 24, the aggressor attacked a house in the Dubovykivka community of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with an unmanned aerial vehicle, as a result of which a 47-year-old woman was killed; an agricultural enterprise was also damaged, and a multi-story building, a private house, and a summer kitchen were on fire.
On August 24, around 12:05 p.m., Russian military shelled the village of Staryi Saltiv with a strike unmanned aerial vehicle. The facade of a non-operating store was damaged. A 39-year-old man suffered explosive injuries.
During the day of August 24, Russian military shelled the Nikopol, Synelnykove, and Kryvyi Rih districts of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. In the Nikopol district, a local rescuer was injured during the shelling.
In the afternoon of August 24, Russian troops shelled the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv Oblast with artillery. As a result of the shelling, an 82-year-old woman was killed and two more people were injured.
On Independence Day, a prisoner exchange took place between Ukraine and Russia: according to agreements in Istanbul, Ukrainian military personnel from various units of the Defense Forces returned home; within the framework of the 68th exchange, eight civilians were also freed, most of whom had been in captivity since 2022. Two Ukrainian journalists, Dmytro Khyliuk and Mark Kaliush, as well as Serhii Kovalov, a medic from the "Hospitallers" battalion who saved lives during the siege of "Azovstal," and former mayor of Kherson Volodymyr Mykolaienko, who refused to cooperate with the occupiers, returned from captivity.
