Operational situation
In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) "Khortytsia", on the Kupyansk direction, the enemy attacked the Ukrainian Defense Forces 5 times near Berestove. On the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 19 attacks in the areas of Hrekivka, Nevske, Terny, and Yampolivka. On the Bakhmut direction, they repelled 21 Russian attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Novy, Spirne, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka, where the enemy, supported by aviation, attempted to improve its tactical position.
In the "Tavriya" OSG operational zone on the Avdiivka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 21 enemy attacks in the areas of Novokalynove, Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Yasnobrodivka, Netaylove, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, where the enemy attempted to dislodge the Ukrainian Defense Forces from their positions. On the Novopavlivka direction, they continued to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodyane, and Urozhaine where the adversary, supported by avtiation, attempted to breach Ukrainian troops' defenses 24 times. On the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 5 times in the area of Staromayorske and Robotyne.
In the operational zone of the "Odesa" OSG on the Kherson direction, the enemy remains determined to dislodge the units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River and launched 3 unsuccessful attacks supported by aviation in the area of Krynky.
General conclusion:
Russian forces have failed to achieve significant tactical gains near Chasiv Yar after advancing to the eastern outskirts of the city.
Over the last two days, the Russian Aerospace Forces have conducted airstrikes on Pokrovsk, Moskovske, and Halytsynivka (5-40 km behind the front line) in the area between Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk. This should be considered a "denial of access" tactic aimed at reducing the flow of reinforcements towards the front.
The enemy's advancement in the area of Novomykhailivka jeopardizes the defensive efforts of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade over the past 16 months.
Russian forces will intensify missile and aviation strikes in the coming weeks with the aim of causing maximum damage to Ukrainian infrastructure and defense industry enterprises before resolving the critical shortage of guided anti-aircraft missiles for the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces.
Russian forces have launched powerful strikes on Ukrainian transportation infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, indicating a shift in enemy priorities. An increase in the intensity of attacks on military logistics facilities and transportation hubs should be expected.

On the Kupyansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks near Berestove, Nadiya, Novoyehorivka, and Hrekivka.
On the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks near Terny, Torske, Yampolivka, in the area of Serebriansk Forest, near Bilohorivka, and launched a counterattack in the vicinity of Hryhorivka.
On the Bakhmut direction, units of the Russian Armed Forces are consolidating on the achieved lines, with Russian Airspace Forces aviation systematically delivering airstrikes with glide bombs on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the "Kanal" and "Novyi" micro-districts of Chasiv Yar. The 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Defense Forces has been redeployed to different lines. Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced southeast of Ivanivske, improving their tactical position.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled several enemy attacks in the areas of Zolotarivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Spine, and Vyimka. In the Vyimka - Rozdolivka area, the 123rd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army Corps unsuccessfully attacked. The 4th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army Corps captured several positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces near Klishchiivka.
Positional battles continued near Bohdanivka, in the "Novyi" micro-district, near Ivanivske, close to Klishchiivka, and Andriivka.
On the Avdiivka direction, the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Defense Forces maintains its positions in Berdychi and repels attacks by the enemy’s 74th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st Combined Arms Army. The advance of the 27th Motorized Rifle Regiment, the 30th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army, and the 35th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st Army of the enemy in Ocheretyne significantly complicates the situation on the direction. However, "Tavriya" OSG units hold positions in the western part of the village and maintain fire control over its southern part. Skillful defensive actions by the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back the enemy's advance towards Netaylove and Nevelske.
Northeast of Ocheretyne, enemy aviation delivers bomb strikes on positions of the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade in Novokalynove and Keramik. South of Ocheretyne, the enemy intensifies its breakthrough by striking positions of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade in Berdychi to the north, destroying the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Semenivka with MLRS fire. Pervomaiske is fully under the control of the enemy’s 9th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Army Corps. Russian forces have advanced within Novobakhmutivka, and units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are withdrawing from positions in central Novobakhmutivka and Solovyove.
Fighting continued in the areas of Keramik, Novokalynove, Berdychi, Semenivka, Umanske, Yasnobrodivka, Pervomaiske, and Netaylove.
On the Novopavlivka direction, in the area of Novomykhailivka, the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade and the 116th Territorial Defense Brigade repel attacks from the enemy’s 36th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade and the 155th Separate Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, 10th Tank Regiment. The village is fully under enemy control.
Attempting to break through the Ukrainian defense in this area, the enemy advances with a broad front to the south of Novomykhailivka, trying to cut off the Kostyantynivka – Vuhledar highway. Russian forces have made slight advances south of Krasnohorivka and in Heorhiivka.
On the Berdyansk direction, the 1430th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Territorial Troops advanced up to 200 meters east of Urozhaine. Fighting continued near Urozhaine and Staromayorske. The 36th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Combined Arms Army advanced near Volodymyrivka.
On the Orikhiv direction, positional battles continued near Robotyne and Verbove. The 429th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 19th Motorized Rifle Division of the 58th Combined Arms Army and the 56th Air Assault Regiment of the 7th Air Assault Division are engaged in combat operations in this area.
On the Kherson direction, positional battles continued on the eastern bank of Kherson Oblast, including in the area of Krynky, where Ukrainian Defense Forces UAVs hinder the enemy's effective attacks. Russian forces escalate the intensity of combat actions in Krynky. Units of the 61st Separate Marines Brigade of the Northern Fleet have been observed.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Black Sea: 1 ship.
Mediterranean Sea: 7 ships, including 3 “Kalibr” sea launched cruise missile carriers. The total salvo is 20 cruise missiles.
A missile strike hit the command post of the 31st Anti-Aircraft Missile Division, deployed at Dzhankoy airfield, using the "Fundament" command vehicle complex.

Possible operation situation developments:
The command of "Sever (North)" Operational Grouping may respond asymmetrically to the actions of pro-Ukrainian Russian formations with raiding operations in the Sumy and Kharkiv Oblasts or simulate an "advance on Kharkiv" as part of the enemy's offensive campaign on the theater of operations.
The forces of the 20th and 25th Army are unable to complete the forming operation on the Lyman direction and will not be able to occupy a favorable starting position for the offensive on Lyman and the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration before the beginning of summer.
The command of the enemy's “Yug (South)” Operational Grouping, 2nd Army Corps, and 106th Airborne Division will make efforts to eliminate the Siversk salient and set conditions for the encirclement of the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration from the southeast.
The isolation or complete capture of Kostyantynivka will significantly impair the Defense Forces' ability to maintain the frontline in the southern part of Donetsk Oblast, as it will disrupt the main logistical route along Highway N-20.
Ocheretyne is located at the intersection of Ukrainian defense lines, one of which Russian forces attacked after capturing Avdiivka in mid-February 2024, while another, prepared in advance, is positioned deeper in the operational depth as a subsequent defensive line further to the west. The enemy will have to pass through Ocheretyne and stabilize the northern flank of the Avdiivka direction before they can continue their tactical breakthrough against Ukrainian defenses in this area.
The "Center" Operational Grouping command is focused on executing the following operational plan: to establish conditions for the blockade and encirclement of the Kurakhove area or to create advantageous circumstances for launching an offensive operation to encircle "Tavriya" OSG’s defense in Toretsk area from the south.
The enemy's "Vostok" Operational Grouping is gearing up for active operations on the southern flank of the Kurakhove-Vuhledar bulge of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in coordination with the left flank of the "Yug" Operational Grouping, which is currently attempting to break through towards Kurakhove through Hryhorivka and Paraskoviivka-Kostyantynivka along the Vovcha and Sukhi Yaly Rivers.

Humanitarian+general:
According to information provided by the Situation Center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russian forces shelled 11 regions of Ukraine over the past day. A total of 85 towns and villages and 118 infrastructure objects were attacked with various types of weapons. The number of casualties is being updated/clarified.
Overnight on Wednesday, Russian forces intentionally struck a residential complex in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv with two S300 missiles, six people were injured. The mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, said that recently there have been chaotic shelling incidents in Kharkiv, mainly targeting residential areas of the city.
Over the past day, Russian forces carried out 51 shelling attacks on border areas and villages of Sumy Oblast. 242 explosions were recorded, and four residents were injured.
At 7 in the morning on April 24, the enemy launched a rocket strike on Odesa, injuring a 43-year-old woman. About 30 buildings were damaged by the shockwave: windows and glass shattered, and in some houses, ceilings collapsed. Overhead power lines were damaged, leaving part of the city's residents without electricity. The strike targeted a storage facility for disabled automotive equipment in the city.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has documented 85 cases of sexual violence related to the war. These crimes were committed against both civilians and prisoners of war. Specifically, the victims were 52 men, 31 women, one girl, and one boy.
Due to the damage to energy facilities, there is an electricity deficit in the power system throughout the day, leaving 207,000 consumers in Kharkiv Oblast without electricity, the press service of "Ukrenergo" National Power Company reported.
In the temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian authorities are conducting new purges in libraries, according to the Center for National Resistance. They are removing books that mention the Holodomor, the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people, and any activities of Crimean Tatars on the peninsula from the shelves.
