Russia's war on Ukraine. 19.01.25
Operational situation
On the Kursk direction, Russian forces advanced west of Malaya Loknia.
On the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces reclaimed lost positions on the southern outskirts of Hlyboke.
Russian forces launched attacks in the area of Vovchansk.
On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces crossed the international border between Russia and Ukraine and advanced north and south of Topoli, attempted to advance in the center of Petropavlivka, west of Petropavlivka, southeast of Zahryzove, and to capture Novomlynsk but were unsuccessful. The enemy attacked near Holubivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Lozova, Pishchane, Zelenyi Hai, Kruhlyakivka, Pershotravneve, Kopanky, Novoyehorivka, Makiivka, and Tverdokhlibove.
The enemy does not attempt to cross to the western bank of the Oskil River due to the challenging terrain in the area and previous Ukrainian strikes on Russian boats and pontoon bridges.
On the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched offensives in the areas of Terny, Novolyubivka, Novosadove, and Zarichne but made no progress.
On the Siversk direction, Russian forces unsuccessfully attacked near Bilohorivka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces advanced along Dniprovska Street in Chasiv Yar and attacked near Stupochky and Bila Hora.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces advanced within Toretsk and near Krymske and Shcherbynivka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces are advancing southwest of Pokrovsk near Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Novoserhiyivka, and Sribne, attempting to cut off the E50 highway between Pavlohrad and Pokrovsk west of the city.
On the Novopavlivka direction, Russian forces consolidated their positions on the eastern outskirts of Dachne, advanced westward toward Zelenivka from Yantarne, and attacked near Petropavlivka, Slovyanka, and in the direction of Andriivka and Konstyantynopil, as well as near Ulakly and Yantarne.
Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked on the southeastern outskirts of Dachne.
On the Vremivka direction, Russian forces advanced westward to the cemetery and Horyshnia Street in the eastern part of Velyka Novosilka, reached Andrii Sheptytskyi Street in the western part of the village, partially crossed the damaged bridge on the Velyka Novosilka–Vremivka route, and advanced to the northern outskirts of Velyka Novosilka. It is unlikely the enemy will be able to transfer combat equipment over the bridge.
On the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a missile strike and destroyed a Nebo-SVU radar station in Kherson Oblast.
General conclusion:
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched an attack on Krymske, aiming to bypass the Toretsk mine from the west on the northern outskirts of the city. Securing Krymske would allow the enemy to complete the occupation of Toretsk.
The advance of Russian forces east of Velyka Novosilka and the recent capture of Vremivka indicate the withdrawal of Ukrainian Defense Forces units from positions in the fields south of Velyka Novosilka. The enemy has cut off all supply routes for the "Khortytsia" OSG in Velyka Novosilka and is attempting to force Ukrainian forces to withdraw from the village. The enemy is likely to occupy the area in the coming weeks. However, the presence of several rivers will complicate the capture, preventing significant operational success in the western part of Donetsk Oblast.
Russian forces are concentrated on cutting off the Kotlyne–Udachne railway line.
Change in the line of contact (LoC):
There were 199 combat engagements on various fronts.
On the Kharkiv direction, the enemy launched six assaults on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk.
Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled enemy assaults near Petropavlivka, Lozova, and Pishchane on the Kupyansk direction, where nine attacks by the occupiers occurred.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 11 times, attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses near Zelenyi Hai, Pershotravneve, Kopanky, Novoyehorivka, Novosadove, Novolyubivka, and Zarichne.
On the Siversk direction, the enemy launched one assault on Ukrainian Defense Forces' positions near Bilohorivka but did not succeed.
On the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers attacked 11 times in the areas of Stupochky, Predtechyne, and Chasiv Yar.
On the Toretsk direction, the enemy carried out 20 attacks in the areas of Toretsk, Krymske, and Shcherbynivka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces halted 98 enemy assaults toward Vodyane Druhe, Zelenyi Hai, Malynivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoandriivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Shevchenko, Uspenivka, Slovyanka, Andriivka, Dachne, Ulakly, and Yantarne.
On the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 19 enemy attacks. The occupiers were most actively attempted to advance near Velyka Novosilka.
On the Orikhiv direction, the enemy launched one attack on Ukrainian Defense Forces' positions toward Novodanylivka.
On the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped two enemy assaults.
On the Kursk direction, there were 12 combat engagements, with the enemy conducting five airstrikes.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Mediterranean Sea: 6 ships, including 2 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 22 cruise missiles.
Supporting operation:
Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out airstrikes on the oil depot of OJSC "Kaluganefteproduct" near the village of Lyudinovo in Kaluga Oblast and on the state-owned "8th of March" oil depot near the village of Didilovo in Tula Oblast. Fires are ongoing at the affected sites.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
The reconnaissance and assault brigade "Sever-V" of the "Volunteer Assault Corps" onperates ear Chasiv Yar, while the reconnaissance and assault brigade "Nevsky" is engaged near Soledar.
The 394th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 127th Motorized Rifle Division of the 5th Combined Arms Army is active in Velyka Novosilka, and the 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 5th Combined Arms Army operates near Neskuchne.
Possible operation situation developments:
The enemy command's plan for the Southwestern Theater of Military Operations during the winter campaign of 2025 may include an operation to capture Pokrovsk and the final occupation of Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, and Vovchansk. Another possible course of action could be the occupation of Kupyansk or simultaneous actions in several directions.
On the Kramatorsk direction, the "Khortytsia" OSG units will be forced to retreat to the Kostyantynivka area if the enemy reaches the Chervone–Stupochky line and simultaneously launches an offensive northward at the junction of its 41st and 51st Combined Arms Armies from the Novooleksandrivka–Arkhanhelske line, advancing to the Yablunivka–Oleksandro-Kalynove line on the Toretsk direction.
The enemy’s offensive on Pokrovsk may proceed according to two main scenarios:
A breakthrough to the city from the south and the gradual expulsion of Ukrainian Defense Forces from the city due to numerical superiority in forces and means (the enemy's tactics in Chasiv Yar).
A deep encirclement of Pokrovsk from the south, cutting the road to Mezhova, regrouping part of the 2nd Combined Arms Army's forces, encircling the city from the north as well, cutting the T0504 road to Kostyantynivka.
The 36th, 57th, and the 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades, advancing from the south towards Sukhyi Yaly and Yantarne, might simultaneously, together with the actions of the 51st and 8th Combined Arms Armies, once again attempt to break through in the direction of Zelenivka – Ulakly and further towards Konstyantynopil.
Ukrainian Defense Forces will have to completely withdraw from the remnants of the Kurakhove bridgehead, engaging in fierce rear-guard battles, as the prospects of holding it worsen gradually with the enemy's steady advance in the zones of the 90th Tank Division and the 110th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.
