Operational situation
In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) "Kharkiv" on the Kharkiv direction, there were 7 clashes in the areas of Hlyboke and Vovchansk.
In the "Khortytsia" Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, the number of attacks was 9. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka, Andriivka, Pishchane, Berestove, and Stepova Novoselivka. On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 9 times near Hrekivka, Makiivka, and Nevske. On the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 assault actions by Russian invaders near Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Vyimka, Pereyizne, and Pivnichne. On the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers attacked 7 times in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Opytne. On the Toretsk direction, the enemy conducted 11 attacks near Pivnichne, New York, and Toretsk.
In the "Tavriya" OSG operational zone, on the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 24 assaults in the areas of Prohres, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Novoselivka Persha, and Umanske, where the invaders, supported by aviation, tried to displace the "Tavriya" OSG units from their positions. On the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 23 attacks near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Kostyantynivka, and Paraskoviivka, where the enemy tried to breach the defense. On the Vremivka direction, the enemy conducted 6 assaults near Vodyane. On the Hulyaipole and Orikhiv directions, the invaders continued to attempt to displace Ukrainian Defense Forces units from their positions. Four Russian attacks failed in the areas of Marfopil, Mala Tokmachka, and Novoandriivka.
In the operational zone of "Odesa" OSG on the Prydniprovskiy direction, the enemy attacked near Kozachi Laheri.
General conclusion:
The enemy is attempting to maintain the pace of its offensive on the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions through the advantage in artillery and aviation support.
Change in the line of contact (LoC):
There were 112 combat engagements on various fronts.
On the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces attacked near Hlyboke and in Vovchansk.
On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy's aviation strikes bridges over the Hnylytsia River to the west of Kupyansk to complicate "Khortytsia" OSG logistics in the Kupyansk area. Russian forces continue to attack in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, and Andriivka.
On the Lyman direction, Russian forces continue to attack towards the Zherebets River, near Makiivka and Nevske.
On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces conducted offensive actions in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Pereyizne, and Rozdolivka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces conducted assaults near Chasiv Yar, close to Hryhorivka and Klishchiivka.
Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Opytne.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces advanced near Toretsk, along Petro Velykyi Street in the eastern part of Druzhba, on its northern outskirts, and continued offensive actions near Toretsk, Pivnichne, and New York.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces advanced in the northwestern part of Novoselivka Persha, to the west in the fields east of Lozuvatske, along the forest strip northwest of Arkhanhelske, northwest of Novooleksandrivka and Yevhenivka, and continued offensive actions in the areas of Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Progress, Novoselivka Persha, Lozuvatske, Umanske, Yasnobrodivka, and Karlivka.
On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces continued to advance in the northern part of Krasnohorivka, attacking in the areas of Heorhiivka, Kostyantynivka, Paraskoviivka, and Vodyane.
On the Vremivka direction, Russian forces continued to advance in the area of Makarivka.
On the Orikhiv direction, fighting continued in the areas of Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Novoandriivka.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Azov Sea: 3 ships, including 0 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 0 cruise missiles.
Mediterranean Sea: 1 ship, including 1 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 8 cruise missiles.
Only supply and support vessels remain in the bases of the Black Sea Fleet; all Russian combat ships have been withdrawn from the occupied Crimea.
Possible operation situation developments:
On the Vovchansk direction, the enemy may abandon assault actions and shift to attacks on the flanks in the direction of Buhruvatka – Starytsya – Izbytske, attempting to bypass Vovchansk from the east through Tykhe and Vovchanski Khutory.
On the Kupyansk direction, in the operational zone of the 1st Tank Army, command of the enemy's "Zapad (West)" Operational Grouping will attempt to reach the Oskil River in the Hlushkivka – Zahryzove sector, the Petropavlivka – Kurylivka line, and storm Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi railway junction. This assumption is supported he enemy's increased activity specifically on the flanks (Synkivka – Petropavlivka and Pishchane – Kolisnykivka directions). To bind the “Khortytsia" OSG forces, the enemy will exert frontal pressure on their positions in the Stepova Novoselivka area.
The enemy has completed the formation of a tactical group consisting of the 252nd Motorized Rifle Regiment, 237th Tank Regiment of the 3rd Motorized Rifle Division, 283rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, and 59th Tank Regiment of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division. This group will soon attempt to seize the crossing over the Chornyi Zherebets River in Makiivka and attack the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces units in Nevske from the areas of Makiivka and Chervonopopivka.

Humanitarian+general:
According to information provided by the Situation Center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russian forces shelled 10 regions of Ukraine over the past day. A total of 93 towns and villages and 245 infrastructure objects were attacked with various types of weapons. The number of casualties is being updated/clarified.
Russian military forces struck the Dnipro district of Kherson from the temporarily occupied left bank, injuring a 47-year-old woman who was outside during the attack.
At 3:00 PM on July 17, 2024, the Russian army launched another strike on Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, likely using the "UMPB D-30 SN". As a result, five civilians, aged 41 to 73, were injured.
On July 17, 2024, around 3:00 PM, the enemy attacked a civilian vehicle traveling on the "Bilopillya-Putivl" highway in Sumy Oblast with a drone. The passenger of the car was injured in the attack.
Russian forces attacked the village of Uspenivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast with drones, injuring two girls, aged 5 and 10, along with their mother.
Another 95 Ukrainian defenders have been released from Russian captivity. These include soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the National Guard, and border guards, with 13 of them being defenders of "Azovstal".
In Kherson Oblast, there is a significant number of cases where Russian forces use FPV drones to deliberately burn crops. People who have cleared their fields, areas of 100, 200, or 400 hectares, are losing 20 to 30 hectares at a time, reported Denis Marchuk, Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, during a briefing.
Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets has appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross, demanding assistance in returning the bodies of teenagers Tigran Ohanyan and Mykyta Khanhanov, who were tortured to death by Russian occupation authorities in occupied Berdyansk, to their families. Russian authorities intend to bury them secretly and refuse to hand them over to the Ukrainian side, the ombudsman reported.
In Ukraine, 42,000 people are officially considered missing as a result of the Russian aggression, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
