General conclusion:
On the Northern-Slobozhansky direction, units of the 40th Separate Marines Brigade refused to take up positions in the designated defense zone. Other units of the brigade were spotted near Kostyantynivka.
The Russian military command constantly concentrates troops for combat operations in the Vovchansk area, attacks the logistics routes of Ukrainian Defense Forces.
On the Siversk direction, Russian troops have intensified offensive activity, try to bypass Siversk from the directions of Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, and Serebriansk forest. The enemy will soon resume the offensive on the Siversk direction from the Toretsk direction, trying to strengthen the front line and put pressure on the Ukrainian defense in Kostyantynivka. Currently, the enemy holds a tactical pause and does not conduct assault operations in the direction of Kostyantynivka but carries out artillery and air strikes on the city.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops try to bypass and envelop Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, sometimes disguise themselves in civilian clothes or Ukrainian military uniforms, violating the norms of International Humanitarian Law.

Changes in the enemy disposition:
The 76th Air Assault Division operates on the eastern bank of the Loknia River. The 1st Motorized Rifle Battalion of the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 72nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 44th Army Corps operates in Oleksiivka; the 51st Airborne Regiment of the 106th Airborne Division is engaged near Sadky. The 83rd Separate Air Assault Brigade has lost its combat capability and has been withdrawn to the Yunakivka area to buld a defensive line.

Possible operation situation developments:
According to the estimates of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the enemy will not be able to achieve the Kremlin's goal of capturing the entire Donetsk Oblast by the end of 2025. The new operational task of the enemy grouping in the theater of military operations is to advance to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and create a buffer zone 10 km deep. Provided current dynamics of combat operations are maintained, the enemy will be able to capture Pokrovsk by autumn, Kostyantynivka and Kupyansk by the end of the year, and reach the close approaches to Zaporizhzhia and the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration by early winter.
On the Northern Slobozhansky direction, the enemy’s “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping is trying to reach the Mala Korchakivka – Nova Sich – Maryinka – Sadky line.
The command of the enemy's "Sever (North)" Operational Grouping in cooperation with the right flank of “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping in the Southern Slobozhansky direction, will attempt to expand its bridgehead northeast of Velykyi Burluk and capture Khatnie before attacking the city. For this purpose, the troops will have to force the Velykyi Burluk River on the Shevchenkove – Mykhailivka – Velykyi Burluk line. The Vovchansk – Velykyi Burluk – Dvorichna line can become a powerful defensive line within Russia's buffer zone in northern Kharkiv Oblast in the medium- and long-term perspective.
On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy aims to break through from the north and northeast to the R07 Kharkiv – Chuhuiv – Kupyansk highway, which is the main logistical route of the “Khortytsia” Operational-Strategic Grouping (OSG) in the direction. Therefore, it will persistently attack in the directions of Radkivka – Kovalivka and Radkivka – Myrne, despite losses. Success will allow the enemy to completely block the logistics of a significant part of the group defending Kupyansk itself and holding a significant bridgehead east of it across the Oskil River.
On the Lyman direction, the advance of assault units of the 67th Motorized Rifle Division of the 25th Combined Arms Army south of the Kreminna – Lyman road has significantly worsened the position of Ukrainian Defense Forces units defending in the Serebriansk Forest. The enemy breaks through along the Chornyi Zherebets River from north to south, trying to get behind them. Considering the creeping advance of the 3rd Combined Arms Army troops on the opposite bank of the Siverskyi Donets River from east to west and the beginning of battles for Hryhorivka, it is highly probable that in the near future, units of the “Khortytsia” OSG will either have to completely withdraw from this area and retreat behind the Chornyi Zherebets River, or try to hold it, defending with "inverted" flanks.
On the Siversk direction, the command of the enemy's "Yug (South)" Operational Grouping will attempt to eliminate the Siversk salient held by "Khortytsia" OSG and break through towards the Sloviansk – Kramatorsk agglomeration. The 3rd Combined Arms Army will try to break through to the northern bank of the Siverskyi Donets River between Yampil and Hryhorivka, and from the southeast – toward Siversk. In the near future, the enemy will try to capture Pereyizne and attack Zvanivka along the eastern bank of the Bakhmutka River, trying to break through to Siversk from the south.
Russian forces may try to attack directly west of Chasiv Yar in the direction of Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka and Druzhkivka to cut the H20 Kostyantynivka – Sloviansk highway and complicate the logistics of Ukrainian Defense Forces in Kostyantynivka, thereby facilitating envelopment and capture efforts of the "fortress belt". Russian forces may also try to advance northwest of Chasiv Yar in the direction of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, transferring part of the troops to attack along the E40 Bakhmut – Sloviansk highway for this purpose, thereby creating conditions for an assault on the "fortress belt" from the northeast. The advance of troops of the 3rd Combined Arms Army near Siversk may contribute to the adoption of such a decision by the command of the adversary's “Yug (South)” Operational Grouping.
Northeast of Pokrovsk, the enemy will continue attacks with the forces of the 51st Combined Arms Army in the direction of Rodynske from both Fedorivka and Razyne, at the same time trying to break through as close as possible to Dobropillya. In addition, the enemy will continue attacks in the Novoekonomichne – Myrnohrad and Myrolyubivka – Myrnohrad directions. As soon as the 51st Combined Arms Army blocks communications from Pokrovsk to Dobropillya, the enemy will proceed to assault Pokrovsk with the forces of the 41st and 2nd Combined Arms Armies.
On the Novopavlivka direction, the command of the enemy "Vostok (East)" Operational Grouping is trying to capture the area of Havrylivka – Zelenyi Hai – Temyrivka – Novomykolayivka between the Vovcha and Vorona rivers, at the junction of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. The lines for the armies' immediate objectives may be: for the 5th Combined Arms Army it is the Komyshuvakha – Temyrivka line, and for the 36th and 29th Combined Arms Armies it is the Havrylivka – Novoselivka line. In the near future, continued enemy attacks should be expected in the operational zone of the 29th Combined Arms Army in the direction of Piddubne – Iskra along the Zaporizhzhia – Donetsk highway, and for the 36th Combined Arms Army, an assault on Voskresenka from three directions and a further breakthrough towards Novoselivka should be expected. The Operational Grouping seeks to reach the eastern bank of the Vovcha River in the Novoselivka – Iskra sector as quickly as possible. The 5th Combined Arms Army will try to conduct similar actions further south, on the Vorona River, to capture Temyrivka and advance towards Komyshuvakha.
The command of "Vostok (East)" Operational Grouping can begin an offensive operation in the western direction through Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts, using highway H15 Kurakhove – Zaporizhzhia, forcing the Khaychur, Solona, Verkhnya Tersa, and Vovcha rivers, crossing highways T0408 Preobrazhenka – Novomykolayivka and T0401 Pokrovsk – Huliaypole, seizing several cities the size of Chasiv Yar, which could become a significant problem for the aggressor. A rapid advance to Zaporizhzhia from positions in Novokhatske over 150 km, considering the current pace of the enemy's offensive, is unlikely.

Russia carried out a drone strike with 5 Shahed-type drones on an oil depot belonging to the Azerbaijani oil company SOCAR in Odesa Oblast on the night of August 8, 2025. This caused a fire and damaged a diesel fuel pipeline. Although official investigation data has not yet been released, Ukrainian law enforcement officials note that the location of the five guided drone hits clearly indicates the oil depot was the primary target of the attack. This marks the second targeted attack on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine linked to Azerbaijan in recent days.
On the night of August 8, the Russian occupying army used drones to attack Kyiv Oblast. In Bucha, fires broke out, and three people were injured. Approximately 50 houses, a dormitory, a kindergarten, and 10 cars were also damaged.
On the night of August 8, Russian troops used attack unmanned aerial vehicles to strike Odesa district. A sewage pumping station was damaged, and dry grass caught fire. A security guard at a gas station was also wounded.
A Russian unmanned aerial vehicle hit a civilian enterprise in the Saltivskyi District of Kharkiv on the night of August 8, causing a fire that spread over an area of 500 square meters. Two civilians were injured.
At around 10:40, Russian military personnel used a drone to attack Antonivka, a suburb of Kherson. Two local residents were wounded in the attack. In Kherson, Russian invaders dropped an explosive device on a 13-year-old boy walking down the street, injuring the child.
At approximately 14:30, Russian forces shelled the central part of Kherson with artillery. As a result of the attack, a 78-year-old woman sustained a blast injury, contusion, a shrapnel wound to the abdomen, and a traumatic amputation of her arm. She died later that evening.
Russian troops used a drone to attack a village in the Novhorod-Siverskyi District of Chernihiv Oblast, striking a warehouse at an agricultural enterprise.
In Donetsk Oblast, Russian invaders shelled a mine in the city of Dobropillya. The mine is now flooding because its power was cut off. All miners were brought to the surface.
According to the Regional Military Administration, 21,700 civilians, including 115 children, remain in the active combat zone in Donetsk Oblast. In total, over 1.25 million civilians have been evacuated from their permanent residences in Ukrainian-controlled areas of Donetsk Oblast, including approximately 194,000 children and 47,000 people with disabilities. Over the last week, more than 7,800 people, including 380 children, were evacuated from the oblast. Currently, 252,000 civilians remain in the Ukrainian-controlled parts of Donetsk Oblast, of whom approximately 18,500 are children.
The Center for National Resistance of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Russian occupiers plan to make the use of the Max messenger mandatory for residents of the temporarily occupied territories starting September 1. This messenger is controlled by the Kremlin and the FSB. The program has access to the microphone, camera, geolocation, and contacts, and may contain hidden backdoors. All data is stored in the Russian Federation and can be transferred to special services without a court order.
