Operational situation
On the Kursk direction, fighting continued near Sverdlivkovo, Maryivka, Pogrebki, and Lebedevka.
On the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces continued unsuccessful localized attacks near Vovchansk and Khatyshche.
Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked in Vovchansk and near Hlyboke.
On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces attacked near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Stepova Novoselivka. They advanced west of Pershotravneve, Zahryzove, Bohuslavka, Lozova, Novoyehorivka, Makiivka, and Novolyubivka, and attempted to advance near Topoli, north, northeast, and south of Zapadne, near Synkivka, southwest of Nadiia, west of Karmazynivka, and southwest of Makiivka.
Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced in the center of Zahryzove.
On the Lyman direction, Russian forces advanced northeast of Lyman, north of Kolodyaz, southwest of Dibrova, and attacked near Yampolivka, Terny, toward Serebrianka, and in the area of the Serebriansk Forest.
Over the past five days, forward units of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Army continued their offensive in the Terny–Yampolivka and Ivanivka–Kolodyazi directions but failed to achieve their objectives, advancing only about 1 km southwest of Ivanivka. The 3rd Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Army continued its unsuccessful attempts to break through from Makiivka to Hrekivka. Meanwhile, the enemy managed to cross the Chornyi Zherebets River in the Makiivka–Hrekivka (3rd Motorized Rifle Division) and Ivanivka–Kolodyazi (144th Motorized Rifle Division) directions.
On the Siversk direction, Russian forces unsuccessfully attacked near Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Zolotarivka, and Ivano-Dariivka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces advanced along Dniprovska Street in Chasiv Yar, near Predtechyne, to the southern outskirts of Bila Hora, and west of Kurdyumivka.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attacked near Toretsk, in the Krymske and Shcherbynivka areas, and advanced west of New York.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attacked in the areas of Zelenyi Pole, Vodyane Druhe, Tarasivka, Myroliubivka, Malynivka, Promin, Lysivka, Kotlyarivka, Yelyzavetivka, Udachne, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Sribne, advanced southeast of Nadiivka, and are engaged in battles for Zelene Pole, Tarasivka, and Sribne.
On the Novopavlivka direction, Russian forces attacked near Shevchenkove, Dachne, Andriivka, Oleksiivka, Ulakly, and Konstyantynopil, advanced into eastern Andriivka, and tried to move along the T0515 road from Pokrovsk to Andriivka–Konstyantynopil north of Andriivka. The 90th Tank Division of the 41st Army advanced about 1 km in the Novoandriivka–Sribne direction and occupied the village of Sribne. The enemy also advanced near Nadiivka and toward Kotlyarivka. Forward units of the 67th Rifle Regiment of the 90th Tank Division secured positions in the northeastern part of Andriivka.
On the Huliaypole direction, Russian forces attacked near Novosilka and Novyi Komar. The enemy’s 36th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade pushed "Khortytsia" OSG units north of Zelenivka from several forward positions, while the 103rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division of the 8th Army is engaged in fierce battles for the village of Dachne, gradually forcing Ukrainian units eastward.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces unsuccessfully attacked near Novodanylivka, Shcherbynivka, and Kamianske.
On the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces advanced to the eastern part of Velykyi Potyomkin Island.
General conclusion:
Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced near Borova, while Russian troops advanced near Kupyansk, Borova, Lyman, Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and on the Dnipro direction.
Russian forces on the Kupyansk direction are regrouping in preparation for renewed offensive operations and conducting reconnaissance to locate Ukrainian positions. Attempts by the 1st Tank Army’s command, using the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division and the 47th Tank Division, to expand their breakthrough toward the Oskil River in the Kruhlyakivka area remain unsuccessful. Persistent attacks by the 1st and 15th Motorized Rifle Regiments and the 1st Tank Regiment of the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division in the direction of Kolisnykivka and Zahryzove also failed.
To the north, where forward units of the 69th Motorized Rifle Division of the 6th Army managed to cross the Oskil River and establish a tactical bridgehead near Dvorichna and Novomlynsk, the pace of expansion has sharply decreased. For five consecutive days, the enemy has been unable to fully capture Dvorichna, where "Khortytsia" OSG units continue to hold several blocks in its northern part, as well as Zapadne. Although the enemy broke through between Dvorichna and Zapadne along the Kupyansk–Dvorichna road, several Ukrainian units continue to hold positions on the western bank of the Oskil within the enemy’s bridgehead, restraining its further actions. The level of resistance from "Khortytsia" OSG in the area of the Dvorichna bridgehead has started to increase. The 2nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Tank Army is unable to significantly expand its breakthrough to the river south of the city.
The "Zapad (West)" Operational Grouping has completed the first stage of its plan to eliminate the "Khortytsia" OSG bridgehead on the Chornyi Zherebets River by destroying its northern section. The enemy secured positions beyond the river and slightly expanded its bridgehead in the Ivanivka area, creating a threatening situation for all Ukrainian units defending the section from Yampolivka to the Siverskyi Donets River, east of Chornyi Zherebets, including the Serebriansk Forest. The enemy has the ability to transfer reinforcements from Novosadove to the bridgehead and ensure logistical support via dams over the pond on the Chornyi Zherebets River.
Russian troops are redeploying part of the forces from the 51st Army from the Kurakhove direction to the Pokrovsk direction.
The pace of enemy advancement on the Pokrovsk direction has slowed to a minimum. Despite the introduction of the 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade into the operation, the enemy advanced only a few hundred meters north of Kotlyne and in the Vozdvyzhenka–Baranivka direction with units of the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army over the past three days. However, the attacks occurred almost along the entire front of the operational zone of the 41st Army.
On the Huliaypole direction, forward units of the 5th and 36th Armies, reinforced by the 40th and 336th Separate Marines Brigades, after capturing the area of Velyka Novosilka and Vremivka, are attempting to advance in the Rivnopil–Novosilka and Vremivka–Pryvilne directions and near Rozdolne, but so far without success.
Change in the line of contact (LoC):
There were 110 combat engagements on various fronts.
On the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Vovchansk.
On the Kupyansk direction, 13 enemy attacks took place. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian assault operations near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Zahryzove.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked four times, attempting to advance near Novoyehorivka, Terny, Novolyubivka, and Yampolivka.
On the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces near Bilohorivka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, six clashes were recorded in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, toward Predtechyne, and near Stupochky.
On the Toretsk direction, the enemy carried out 12 attacks with air support near Krymske, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 38 enemy assault and offensive actions in the areas of Malynivka, Novopoltavka, Zelene Pole, Tarasivka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Udachne, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Dachne, and Pokrovsk. The enemy actively used assault and bomber aviation.
On the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled six attacks near Konstyantynopil, Rozdolne, and Novyi Komar.
On the Huliaypole direction, the occupiers conducted two attacks toward Novosilka.
On the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled two enemy attacks near Novodanylivka and Shcherbaky.
On the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian occupiers unsuccessfully launched eight assaults on the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces. Enemy aviation was active on this direction.
On the Kursk direction, the "Siversk" OTG repelled seven enemy attacks.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Black Sea: 2 ships, including 1 cruise missile carrier; the total salvo is 4 cruise missiles.
Mediterranean Sea: 6 ships, including 2 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 22 cruise missiles.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
The 1st Tank Regiment of the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Tank Army operates near Zahryzove.
The 299th Airborne Regiment and the 215th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the 98th Airborne Division operate near Chasiv Yar.
The 27th Artillery Regiment of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps operates near Stupochky.
The 9th and 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades of the 51st Army are engaged in combat operations near Toretsk.
Possible operation situation developments:
The enemy command's plan for the Southwestern Theater of Military Operations during the winter campaign of 2025 may include an operation to capture Pokrovsk and the final occupation of Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, and Vovchansk. Another possible course of action could be the occupation of Kupyansk or simultaneous actions in several directions.
The command of the enemy’s "Sever (North)" and "Zapad (West)" Operational Groupings will have to address the problem of expanding the bridgehead in the Dvorichna and Novomlynsk area at any cost in the short term. To capture Kupyansk, it will also be necessary to cross the Oskil River south of the city. However, the 1st Tank Army is currently unable to expand its access to the river or organize and conduct a full-scale crossing, as the forces of "Khortytsia" OSG have forced the enemy to fight in this area with a front deployed in three directions simultaneously.
Once the enemy sufficiently expands its bridgeheads on the Chornyi Zherebets River, the 25th Army, with forces of the 67th Motorized Rifle Division and the 164th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, will sharply intensify actions toward Torske and Yampilivka. This will mark the second stage of pushing "Khortytsia" OSG out of the bridgehead east of the Chornyi Zherebets River on the Lyman direction.
On the Kramatorsk direction, the "Khortytsia" OSG units will be forced to retreat to the Kostyantynivka area if the enemy reaches the Chervone–Stupochky line and simultaneously launches an offensive northward at the junction of its 41st and 51st Combined Arms Armies from the Novooleksandrivka–Arkhanhelske line, advancing to the Yablunivka–Oleksandro-Kalynove line on the Toretsk direction.
The enemy's military command in the theater of operations will attempt to leverage tactical advantages within and near Toretsk and east of Pokrovsk to eliminate the Ukrainian bridgehead southwest of Toretsk. For this purpose, the intensity of combat operations southwest of Toretsk will be increased.
The further enemy actions on the Novopavlivka direction will aim to prevent the consolidation of "Khortytsia" OSG units in the Rozlyv–Konstyantynopil–Andriivka–Ulakly area. The Russian military command is likely to simultaneously intensify pressure with forces from the 90th Tank Division and increase efforts in the operational zone of "Vostok (East)" Operational Grouping. Troops from the 8th Combined Arms Army (20th and 150th Motorized Rifle Divisions) of the "Yug (South)" Operational Grouping are expected to participate in these actions, with some units likely being redeployed after the withdrawal of the "Khortytsia" OSG from the remaining positions at the Kurakhove bridgehead.
The most likely course of enemy actions in the operational zone of the "Vostok (East)" Operational Grouping may involve the capture of the Novodarivka–Novopil–Zelene Pole–Novosilka area, followed by an attempted breakthrough toward Bahatyr and Komar. To accomplish this, the 57th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 5th Combined Arms Army and part of the forces of the 34th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 49th Combined Arms Army (whose main forces operate in Kursk Oblast) will be redeployed from the right flank of the Vostok (East)" Operational Grouping to the operational zone of the 5th Combined Arms Army. The 36th Combined Arms Army will be fully deployed east of the Mokri Yaly River and reinforced with the 40th and 336th Separate Marines Brigades. The 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 5th Combined Arms Army will be moved into reserve and later used to develop the offensive toward Komar and Bahatyr. Securing this initial objective will enable the command of the Vostok (East)" Operational Grouping to create highly favorable conditions for an offensive by the 35th Combined Arms Army on the Huliaypole direction. A breakthrough to Bahatyr and Komar would allow the enemy to achieve operational success across the entire Novopavlivka direction.
The command of the enemy's "Vostok (East)" Operational Grouping will soon continue attacks toward the Donetsk–Zaporizhzhia highway along the Mokri Yaly River and will additionally deploy part of the units from the 60th and 34th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades into the operation.
Exhausted by losses and intense battles over the past month, the enemy will not be able to quickly pursue "Khortytsia" OSG whose units are retreating from Velyka Novosilka. More and more enemy units are being withdrawn and redeployed to the Pokrovsk direction. Additionally, the enemy will not be able to break through to Zaporizhzhia or Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, as they lack the necessary troops, funds, and resources. The plan to collapse the southern Ukrainian front and advance toward Zaporizhzhia is unfeasible for the same reason.
If the Russian military command plans to prioritize the capture of the "fortress belt" in Donetsk Oblast in the spring and summer of 2025, it will be forced to intensify operational activity on the Toretsk direction in the near future. At the same time, capturing Pokrovsk will remain the primary operational objective of the Russian military command in Donetsk Oblast. Consequently, the redeployment of Eastern Military District troops to the Toretsk or Kramatorsk directions would signify a shift in the operational priorities of the occupying forces.
