In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) "Kharkiv" on the Kharkiv direction, the enemy continued offensive (assault) actions, with a total of 7 combat engagements. Fighting took place near Vovchansk and Lyptsi.
In the "Khortytsia" Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone there were 16 enemy attacks on the Kupyansk direction. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled enemy assault actions near Synkivka and Hlushkivka. On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 18 times, attempting to advance near Makiivka, Hrekivka, Novosadove, Nevske, and Torske. On the Siversk direction, nine enemy assaults were thwarted near Verkhnyokamianske, Bilohorivka, Spirne, Zvanivka, and Vyimka. On the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 9 Russian assaults near Verkhnyokamianske and Rozdolivka. On the Toretsk direction, the enemy, supported by aviation, conducted 20 attacks near Toretsk and Nelipivka.
In the "Tavriya" OSG operational zone, on the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 63 Russian attacks near Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Kalynove, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Karlivka, Marynivka, and Mykhailivka. On the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 25 attacks in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Kostyantynivka, and Heorhiivka. On the Vremivka direction, the enemy conducted 14 attacks near Vodyane, Kostyantynivka, and Makarivka.
In the operational zone of "Odesa" OSG on the Prydniprovskiy direction, 2 attempts by the occupiers to capture Defense Forces' positions were unsuccessful.
General conclusion:
The strikes by Ukrainian Defense Forces' UAVs on Russian frontline airfields forced the Russian Aerospace Forces Command to relocate to more distant bases, resulting in increased intervals between the use of Su-24 and Su-34 bombers.
In Kursk Oblast, "Siversk" OTG is employing the following tactic: they encircle a unit manned by conscripts, then set up an ambush for the unit dispatched to break the encirclement.
Over the past week, the enemy managed to secure positions in Pishchane, advance further west towards Kolisnykivka and Senkove on the Oskil River, and reach a line 6 km from the river. The enemy's advance to the Oskil River will significantly complicate the defense of this area by the 110th Territorial Defense Brigade and the 77th Separate Airborne Brigade.
On the Pokrovsk direction, assaults on Novotoretske and Hrodivka have been halted. Ukrainian Defense Forces reserves have arrived and deployed in the area.
The loss of Memryk could lead to units of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade, 117th Territorial Defense Brigade, and the 15th National Guard Separated Brigade of Operative Purpose abandoning their positions east of the Vovcha River. If the 25th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade does not stop the enemy near Ukrainsk, the retreat could result in their encirclement by the enemy.
Change in the line of contact (LoC):
There were 182 combat engagements on various fronts.
On the Kursk Direction: "Siversk" OTG continued its offensive in Kursk Oblast, attacking near Korenevo, Matveevka, Aleksandrovka, Malaya Loknya, Pogrebki, Kamyshovka, Nizhnyaya Parovaya, Bakhtinka, and Nechayev. They made minor progress west of Pogrebki and entered the village. FPV strikes by "Siversk" OTG units block enemy movement towards Korenevo and Glushkovo.
Russian forces failed to secure positions in Borki and are attempting to push Ukrainian troops back from Korenevo, clear Komarovka, and counterattacked near Kauchuk. The 155th Separate Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet is defending along the Glushkovo-Kulbaki-Yelizavetovka line. In the areas of Olgovka, Sheptukhovka, and Pogrebki, individual enemy units, primarily conscripts totaling up to a regiment, have been surrounded by "Siversk" OTG forces. Attempts to unblock them by the Separate Marines Brigade failed.
On the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops advanced on the western outskirts of Hlyboke, but their movements in the area are severely hampered by Ukrainian Defense Forces UAV activities.
"Kharkiv" OTG units repelled an enemy assault near the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant. Fighting continued near Lyptsi.
On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces made minor advances southwest of Pishchane and are fighting near Senkove, attacking near Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, Lozova, Novoosynove, Hlushkivka, Berestove, Tverdokhlibove, Hrekivka, Makiivka, Novosadove, Nevske, Terny, and Torske.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked in the area of the Serebriansk Forest.
On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces are attempting to capture Vyimka. Battles continued near Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka, and Zvanivka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, righting continued on the eastern outskirts of Chasiv Yar, near Kalynivka, Mayske, Markove, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Kurdyumivka.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces advanced 800 meters in Druzhba towards Dachne, creating conditions for an assault on Toretsk from the north. Battles continued near Toretsk, New York, and Nelipivka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces advanced west of Mykhailivka and in the center of Dolynivka, operating on the outskirts of Selydove, captured Ptyche, advanced south of Dolynivka, and reached Zhelanne Pershe. The enemy secured positions in Mykhailivka, Memryk, Karlivka, and advanced towards Ukrainsk, which is under intense fire and airstrikes, as well as towards Lisivka, Dolynivka, and Halytsynivka. Battles continued near Hrodivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Marynivka, Mykhailivka, Krasnyi Yar, Selydove, and Karlivka. The enemy is attacking the rear areas of the "Tavriya" OSG in Tsukuryno and Hirnyk with strike UAVs.
On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces conducted offensive operations near Krasnohorivka and Heorhiivka.
On the Vremivka direction, Russian forces advanced into the northeastern part of Kostyantynivka, are consolidating in the town but have not fully overcome the resistance of the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the western part of Paraskoviivka. They are attempting to push back Ukrainian Defense Forces units towards Vuhledar and conducted offensive actions near Vodyane, close to Makarivka and Vremivka, with minor advances north of Urozhaine and Staromayorske.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces continued attacks near Robotyne and close to Mala Tokmachka.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Mediterranean Sea: 2 ships, including 1 cruise missile carrier; the total salvo is 8 cruise missiles.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
810th Separate Marines Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet, 155th Separate Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, 56th Air Assault Regiment of the 7th Air Assault Division operate in Kursk Oblast.
The 25th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 6th Combined Arms Army is engaged in combat near Synkivka. The 9th Artillery Brigade of the 6th Combined Arms Army is fighting near Petropavlivka. The 144th Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Combined Arms Army is engaged in combat along the Svatove-Kreminna line.
The 4th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 3rd Combined Arms Army is advancing near Chasiv Yar.
The 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Combined Arms Army is operating near Dolynivka. The 120th Artillery Brigade of the 41st Combined Arms Army is operating near Novoselivka Persha. Assault units of the "Mor" detachment are engaged near Memryk. The 74th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st Combined Arms Army is active on the Pokrovsk direction. The 228th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 90th Tank Division of the 41st Combined Arms Army is advancing near Novozhelanne.
Escalation indicators:
A steady increase in the number of combat engagements along the entire front line.
Possible operation situation developments:
Without the involvement of additional forces and resources, the enemy's 41st Army Command will soon have to either concentrate on narrower directions and sectors or abandon simultaneous offensive actions across the entire operational zone and focus on high-cost battles in Toretsk itself or conclude combat operations in the area of New York and Nelipivka.
The enemy's command on the theater of operations must conduct strategic regrouping between operational zones and reinforce the "Tsentr (Center)"Operational Grouping on the Toretsk direction with at least a corps. For this purpose, the 3rd Army Corps may be redeployed to this direction from the Kramatorsk direction, or the main forces of the 51st Army may be concentrated.
The enemy’s shift of their main offensive focus to the southern sector of the "Tsentr (Center)" Operational Grouping’s operational zone on the Pokrovsk direction will soon intensify combat operations around Selidove, Ukrainsk, Halytsynivka, Kurakhivka, and Hirnyk.
The enemy's "Tsentr (Center)" Operational Grouping may attempt to advance through "Tavriya" OSG positions along the Novohrodivka-Hrodivka line, despite higher levels of casualties, in order to maintain the speed of their advance and try to capture Myrnohrad more quickly.
On the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy will likely attempt to cut off the Pokrovsk–Kostyantynivka highway and prepare for an assault on the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration. It can be assumed that the enemy will reach the city by mid-September, but they will not be able to capture it. The open terrain, which is unfavorable for an offensive, and potential counterattacks from the Selydove and Kostyantynivka areas will slow their advance.
Without securing the Selidove area, the enemy cannot sustain their offensive towards Pokrovsk, but they will continue attacking in an attempt to breach the defensive line along the Zhuravka and Kazennyi Torets rivers.
The command of the enemy's "Tsentr (Center)" Operational Grouping must choose between two options for continuing the offensive: either to break through Pokrovsk and the smaller villages east and southeast of Pokrovsk, or to encircle the city. The decision on how to capture Pokrovsk will depend on where Ukrainian Defense Forces deploy their reserves.
Successful enemy advances will force "Tavriya" OSG units to withdraw from Karlivka, areas north of Krasnohorivka, and positions near Nevelske.
If the enemy's pressure from the north does not cease, the "Tavriya" OSG units will soon have to withdraw from Karlivka, Nevelske, and the area north of Krasnohorivka, and holding the Ukrainsk – Halytsynivka line will become critically important, otherwise, the enemy will be able to achieve an operational breakthrough.
On the Krasnohorivka – Kurakhivka direction, the 5th and 110th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades of the enemy's 51st Army will intensify their activities in the near future.
By the end of this year, the enemy will not only fail to occupy Donetsk Oblast within its administrative borders but also will be unable to seize the "fortress belt" of Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka-Kramatorsk-Slovyansk. The upcoming battle for Pokrovsk will be the climax of the enemy's offensive operation in the Southwestern Theater of Operations in 2024.
