Operational situation
On the Northern Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops attacked near Kindrativka, Yunakivka, and Sadky.
Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked near Andriivka, Kindrativka, Yunakivka, and Varachyne.
On the Southern Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops advanced along the southern bank of the Vovcha River within Vovchansk and in the forests west of Synelnykove, and attacked near Hlyboke.
On the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated Myrove and Sobolivka.
Russian troops tried to advance northeast of Olhivka, to Druzhelyubivka, to enter Maliivka, Andriivka, and attacked in the direction of Kupyansk, Kutkivka, near Kamyanka, Fyholivka, Petropavlivka, Zahryzove.
On the Lyman direction, Russian troops continued fighting for Hlushchenkove and Ridkodub, tried to cut off the O0527 Korovyi Yar – Shandryholove highway and advanced east of the latter, attacked in the direction of Derylove, Novyi Myr, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodyazi, Myrnyi, Zarichne, and in the direction of Yampil.

On the Siversk direction, Russian troops attacked in the direction of Dronivka, and near Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, Vyimka.
The 11th Army Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces regularly counterattacks near Serebrianka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced to the western outskirts of Predtechyne.

On the Toretsk direction, Russian troops captured Rusyn Yar and advanced southeast of Sofiivka, and attacked near Toretsk, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Dyliivka, Kleban Byk, Poltavka, Katerynivka, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, and strike Kostyantynivka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, enemy reconnaissance and sabotage groups entered Myrnohrad, the enemy tried to advance on the southern outskirts of Pokrovsk, northwest of Lysivka, and attacked near Rodynske, Vilne, Shakhove, Fedorivka, Mayak, Zapovidne, Nove Shakhove, Novoekonomichne, Sukhetske, Volodymyrivka, Krasnyi Lyman, Zolotyi Kolodyaz, Myrnohrad, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Kozatske, Sukhyi Yar, Dachenske, Chunyshyne, Novoukrainka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Leontovychi.
On the Novopavlivka direction, the 20th Army Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated Dachne.
Russian troops advanced southwest of Kotlyarivka, tried to advance north of Komyshuvakha, and attacked near Horikhove, Dachne, Filiya, Yalta, Tovste, Oleksandrohrad, Voskresenka, Novoselivka, Vorone, Maliivka, Shevchenkove.
On the Huliaypole direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully attacked near Zelene Pole.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops advanced near Mala Tokmachka, and attacked near Novodanylivka, Kamianske.
The 17th Army Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked near Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, and Shcherbaky.
General conclusion:
On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy delivers the main blow in the offensive lane of the 6th Combined Arms Army, on its bridgehead on the Oskil River north of Kupyansk in the Stroyivka – Holubivka section. The 6th Combined Arms Army was recently reinforced with the 27th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Tank Army.
The enemy’s 6th Combined Arms Army made some gains north of Kupyansk, but their position is shaky. Ukrainian Defense Forces hold the Kindrashivka–Radkivka line, which exposes enemy forces in Kindrashivka, Radkivka, and the northern outskirts of Kupyansk to flanking strikes from both the Mala Shapkivka–Tyshchenkivka line and from Kupyansk itself. The enemy’s foothold on the Oskil River is weak, just a narrow 4.5–4.7 km strip, and they struggle to move heavy weapons and supplies across it. South of Krasnyi Pershyi, Ukrainian Defense Forces keep fire control over the Kamyanka–Novomlynsk road.
On the Lyman direction, Russian troops have pushed back units of the 3rd Army Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces from some positions in the area of the Serebriansk forest.
Ukrainian Defense Forces complete the clearing of the enemy's breakthrough areas near Dobropillya. The surrounded enemy units are cut off from the main forces of the “Tsentr (Center)” Operational Grouping. The enemy attacks Ukrainian forward positions near Shakhove with strike UAVs.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops try to advance across open terrain between forest belts.

There were 190 combat engagements on various fronts.
On the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 4 Russian attacks.
On the Southern Slobozhansky direction, 10 Russian attacks were stopped in the areas of Vovchansk, Hlyboke, Fyholivka, Zapadne, and Krasne Pershe.
On the Kupyansk direction, there were 10 attacks by the invaders. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the enemy's assault actions in the areas of Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, and in the direction of Novoplatonivka and Petropavlivka.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 29 times, trying to wedge into Ukrainian defense near Shandryholove, Kolodyazi, Karpivka, and in the direction of Dronivka, Serebrianka, Yampil, and Hryhorivka.
On the Siversk direction, 11 enemy attacks were successfully stopped near Hryhorivka and Pereyizne.
On the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers attacked 5 times in the direction of Bila Hora and in the area of Predtechyne.
On the Toretsk direction, the enemy carried out 9 attacks in the areas of Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Katerynivka, and Poltavka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, 64 assault actions of the aggressor were stopped in the areas of Volodymyrivka, Mayak, Fedorivka, Nykanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Novoekonomichne, Myrolyubivka, Sukhetske, Promin, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horikhove, and Dachne.
On the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy carried out 25 attacks in the areas of Filiya, Yalta, Tovste, Oleksandrohrad, Maliivka, Voskresenka, and Komyshuvakha.
On the Orikhiv direction, the invading units attacked once. The occupiers tried to advance in the area of Kamianske.
On the Prydniprovske direction, 5 enemy attacks were successfully stopped.
Supporting operation:
Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a UAV strike on the Ilsky Oil Refinery and the 330 kV Kropotkin electrical substation in Krasnodar Krai.
A missile strike hit an outpost of the FSB border troops near Voloshyno, Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The barracks were destroyed, and six hovercraft were damaged.
A unit of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, by means of a UAV strike, destroyed an RT-70 radio telescope, a GLONASS satellite navigation system, an Utes-T air traffic control radar complex, MP-10M1E and Mys-M1E mobile coastal defense radars, and a 96L6-AP all-altitude detector from an S-400 complex in areas northwest and west of Yevpatoria in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
On the Northern-Slobozhansky direction, the enemy's 186th Motorized Rifle Regiment is suffering significant losses near Sadky and is trying to evacuate the wounded. The 119th Airborne Regiment of the 106th Airborne Division replaced units of the 76th Air Assault Division near Yunakivka. The 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 72nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 44th Army Corps and the 1443rd Motorized Rifle Regiment conduct combat operations near Varachyne. Sappers from the Armed Forces of the DPRK are expected to arrive in the areas of Sudzha and Guevo, Kursk Oblast.
On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy operates with the adjacent flanks of the enemy's “Sever (North)” and “Zapad (West)” Operational Groupings. The primary units of the 6th Combined Arms Army (68th and 69th Motorized Rifle Divisions) and the 11th Army Corps (18th Motorized Rifle Division and 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment) from the "Sever (North)" Operational Grouping are advancing. The principal elements of the 1st Tank Army—comprising the 27th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, along with contingents from the 4th and 47th Tank Divisions and the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division—advance as part of the “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping. The operational grouping is reinforced with 7-8 motorized rifle regiments. Assault companies have been formed and are actively used as part of all enemy forward units, and assault battalions in formations. The total number of enemy troops in the direction is estimated at 80-90 thousand servicemen, up to 450 tanks, 650-720 armored combat vehicles, up to 680 guns and mortars, and about 250 MRLS. Aviation support per day is 4-6 army aviation sorties and 6-8 transport aviation sorties.
The 506th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 27th Motorized Rifle Division of the 2nd Combined Arms Army operates on the Pokrovsk direction. The 33rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division of the 8th Combined Arms Army strikes Ukrainian troops near Volodymyrivka and Shakhove.
The 14th Separate SOF Brigade strikes Ukrainian troops near Ivanivka, the 114th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 127th Motorized Rifle Division of the 5th Combined Arms Army is active near Komyshuvakha, and the 5th Separate Tank Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army is engaged near Novoselivka.
Possible operation situation developments:
According to the assessment of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the enemy will not be able to achieve the goal of the so-called special military operation to capture the entire Donetsk Oblast by the end of 2025. Provided current dynamics of combat operations are maintained, the enemy will be able to capture Pokrovsk by autumn, Kostyantynivka and Kupyansk by the end of the year, and reach the close approaches to Zaporizhzhia and the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration by early winter.
The command of the enemy's “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping, in cooperation with the right flank of the “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping, will expand its bridgehead northeast of Velykyi Burluk in the Southern Slobozhansky direction and will try to capture Khatnie.
On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy's immediate offensive objective is to block the city of Kupyansk from the north and northwest, cut off the roads from Kupyansk to Dvorichna/Velykyi Burluk and Chuhuiv, and have forward units of the 6th Combined Arms Army break through to Kupyansk. An additional objective for the enemy within the operational area of the 6th Combined Arms Army is to advance toward Velykyi Burluk.
On the Lyman direction, the 25th Combined Arms Army will completely capture the Serebriansk Forest as far as the Chorny Zherebets River leading to the withdrawal of troops of the 3rd Army Corps across the river in the direction of Yampil.
On the Siversk direction, the command of the enemy's "Yug (South)" Operational Grouping will attempt to eliminate the Siversk salient held by "Khortytsia" OSG and break through towards the Sloviansk – Kramatorsk agglomeration. The 3rd Combined Arms Army will try to break through to the northern bank of the Siverskyi Donets River between Yampil and Hryhorivka, and from the southeast – toward Siversk. In the near future, the enemy will try to capture Pereyizne and attack Zvanivka along the eastern bank of the Bakhmutka River, trying to break through to Siversk from the south.
On the Toretsk direction, the troops of the 19th Army Corps of Ukrainian Defense Forces will have to leave the Shcherbynivka-Novospaske-Katerynivka-Kleban Byk area, retreat south of the Kleban Byk reservoir, and try to stop the advance of the enemy's 3rd and 8th Combined Arms Armies on the Pleshchiivka – Oleksandro-Shultyne line and go on the defensive in the area of Dovha Balka – Illinivka – Berestok – Stepanivka.
Russian forces will attack in the direction of Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka and Druzhkivka to cut the Н20 Kostyantynivka-Sloviansk highway and complicate the logistics of Ukrainian Defense Forces in Kostyantynivka, thereby facilitating the capture of the "fortress belt". Russian forces may also try to advance northwest of Chasiv Yar in the direction of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, transferring part of the troops to attack along the E40 Bakhmut – Sloviansk highway for this purpose, thereby creating conditions for an assault on the "fortress belt" from the northeast.
On the Pokrovsk direction, the 51st Combined Arms Army will continue the envelopment of the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration from the north and northeast and will try to advance as deeply as possible toward Dobropillya, which will sharply worsen the prospects of defense not only for Dobropillya and Pokrovsk, but also for Druzhkivka and Kostyantynivka. Subsequently, the 2nd Combined Arms Army will begin the assault on Pokrovsk from the south and southwest.
On the Novopavlivka direction, the command of the enemy's “Vostok (East)” Operational Grouping will try to break through to the confluence of the Vovcha and Vorona rivers near Velykomykhailivka.
On the Orikhiv direction, the enemy's “Dnepr” Operational Grouping may try to launch an offensive in the direction of Zaporizhzhia. It will continue a local offensive operation, trying to break through along the left bank of the Dnipro River from the Plavni – Kamianske line to Stepnohirsk and from the Stepne – Mali Shcherbaky line in the northern direction.
On the Prydniprovske direction, the command of the enemy's “Dnepr” Operational Grouping will continue regular attempts to take control of the main part of the island zone in the Dnipro River delta in the direction of Kherson, and will try to create a tactical bridgehead on the right bank and eliminate the tactical bridgeheads of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the area of the Antonivskyi road and railway bridges.

Humanitarian + general:
From the evening of August 31, Russia attacked Ukraine with 86 Shahed loitering munitions and other mock drones. Air defense forces shot down or suppressed 76 of these, but 10 drones hit their targets in six locations.
On the morning of September 1, near a village in the Seredyna-Buda community of Sumy Oblast, a retired couple was riding a motorcycle with a sidecar close to the Russian border when they were injured by a mine, which was likely airdropped by an enemy drone.
Also on September 1, in Kupyansk District, Kharkiv Oblast, a Russian FPV drone struck near a civilian car in the village of Spodobivka. The 74-year-old driver was wounded and his car was damaged. That same day in Kharkiv District, a drone strike on Slatyne caused a fire in dry grass that spread over 300 square meters.
Throughout September 1, Russian forces attacked different areas of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, killing three civilians and wounding four. In Synelnykove District, the Pokrovsk, Malomykhailivka, and Sloviansk communities came under fire. Two people were killed, two were wounded, and a private house was partially destroyed, with two others damaged. Outbuildings were destroyed and hit, and a tractor was also damaged. In Nikopol District, the district center and the Marhanets, Myrove, Pokrovsk, and Chervonohryhorivka communities were attacked with FPV drones and artillery. The attacks wounded two men and damaged nine private houses, two outbuildings, and a power line. At night, a guided aerial bomb was dropped on the Pokrovsk community, killing a man, destroying a private home, and damaging cars. A UAV hit also started a fire in the Zelenodolsk community of Kryvyi Rih District.
In August, Russian aircraft dropped 4,390 guided aerial bombs on the positions of the Defense Forces and on frontline settlements. This is an increase from the 3,786 guided aerial bombs used the previous month. The highest number of guided aerial bombs used in 2025 was still in April, with over 5,000.
On September 1, a new school year began in Ukraine for 3.5 million children. Nearly 2.3 million will attend classes in person, while the number of students in distance learning has decreased by 103,000 over the past year. 10% of students are in distance learning or other formats because they are either abroad (nearly 303,000) or in temporarily occupied territories (over 35,000). This year, around 12,000 schools will operate in Ukraine, with over 8,000 holding in-person classes, 2,500 using a mixed format, and 1,500 operating fully remotely. Most of the children in distance learning are students in schools in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
For the 2025-2026 school year in occupied Luhansk Oblast, there will be 265 specialized classes. More than a third of these (95) will have a military, so-called "Cossack slant," while only 20 engineering, 11 medical, 3 State Emergency Service, and about 20 agrotechnical classes have been created. The head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, Oleksiy Kharchenko, stressed that children are being indoctrinated into war from a young age.
The head of the Skadovsk City Military Administration, Serhiy Kukhta, reported that in the temporarily occupied Skadovsk community of Kherson Oblast, there have been at least five cases where civilians abducted by occupiers were later found dead with signs of violent death. A tragic example of this was the death of local pro-Ukrainian activist Tetiana Mudrenko. After her abduction, she was found hanged near the courthouse. According to her family, she was tortured beforehand, and her death certificate lists mechanical asphyxiation as the cause of death.
