In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) "Kharkiv" on the Kharkiv direction, enemy forces launched 2 attacks near Lyptsi and Vovchansk.
In the "Khortytsia" Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, the number of enemy assaults reached 24. All of them were repelled by Ukrainian forces in the areas of Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, Lozova, Novoosynove, Hlushkivka, and Berestove. On the Lyman direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 18 attacks in 9 different villages and in the Serebriansk Forest, with the enemy focusing efforts towards Hrekivka, Tverdokhlibove, and Nevske. On the Siversk direction, nine enemy assaults were thwarted near Verkhnyokamianske, Bilohorivka, Spirne, Zvanivka, and Vyimka. On the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces halted 20 enemy breakthrough attempts near Bila Hora, Ivanivske, Andriivka, Klishchiivka, Chasiv Yar, and Kalynivka, with over 50% of the clashes occurring near Kalynivka. On the Toretsk direction, the enemy conducted 14 attacks near Kurdyumivka, Nelipivka, New York, and Toretsk.
In the "Tavriya" OSG operational zone, on the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 52 enemy assaults of varying intensity, with the heaviest fighting near Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, and Mykhailivka. On the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces thwarted enemy attacks in the areas of Ukrainsk, Lisivka, Halytsynivka, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Kostyantynivka, where the enemy made 30 attempts to breach defenses, with 13 assaults concentrated near Heorhiivka. On the Vremivka direction, the aggressor launched 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar, Makarivka, Vremivka, Vodyane, and towards Kostyantynivka. On the Orikhiv direction, there were 4 engagements: 2 near Robotyne and 2 near Mala Tokmachka.
In the operational zone of "Odesa" OSG on the Prydniprovskiy direction, 3 enemy attacks were unsuccessful.
General conclusion:
The limited enemy operational reserves on the Pokrovsk direction and across the entire theater of operations provide Ukraine's military-political leadership with the opportunity to halt the enemy's advance before it reaches Pokrovsk.
The operational pressure from the "Siversk" OTG in Kursk Oblast affects Russian operations on other operational directions across the entire theater of operations.
The commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army on the Toretsk direction is forced to rely on the army's internal reserves due to the lack of operational reserves from the "Tsentr (Center)" group commander, causing the advance rate of the 41st Army's forward units in the Pivnichne-Toretsk and New York-Nelipivka directions to significantly decrease.
The enemy is unable to fully achieve even its immediate tactical objectives on the Toretsk direction, despite limited advances.
On the Pokrovsk direction itself (areas of Novohrodivka, Krasnyi Yar, Krutyi Yar, Sukhyi Yar), the enemy's advance has slowed to a minimum.
The enemy's command intends to force the "Tavriya" OSG to retreat to the Ukrainsk-Hirnyk line, effectively pushing its units out of all territory east of the Vovcha River in the Karlivka-Krasnohorivka sector.
The steadfast defense of the "Tavriya" OSG units in the Karlivka area significantly impacts the enemy's plans to advance towards Pokrovsk.
Russian forces have deployed powerful electronic warfare assets to the Pokrovsk direction, forcing Ukrainian Defense Forces to use more UAVs to strike Russian equipment.
On the Kurakhivka direction, Russian forces typically attack daily towards Kurakhove with infantry groups supported by 15 to 30 pieces of equipment.
Over the past week, the command of the "Tsentr (Center)," especially the 2nd Army and 90th Tank Division, have shifted their main focus from directly targeting Pokrovsk to pushing towards Selydove and the surrounding areas to the east and southeast. If they succeed, it will allow them to advance further on Pokrovsk and secure the left flank of the forces moving in from the south.
Change in the line of contact (LoC):
There were 199 combat engagements on various fronts.
On the Kursk Direction: "Siversk" OTG conducted combat operations near Komarovka, Krasnooktyabrskoe, Snagost, Korenevo, Matveevka, Kremyanoe, Bakhtinka, Malaya Loknya, Kamyshovka, Kireevka, Nechaev, Martynovka, Plekhovo, Borki, and Cherkasskaya Konopelka, striking a pontoon crossing over the Seym River near Glushkovo with MLRS and UAVs.
Russian forces attempted to push Ukrainian units out of Nizhnyaya Parovaya, reclaimed 1.5 km of territory near Korenevo, and forced Ukrainian troops out of Nechaev.
On the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops advanced in the Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Vovchansk, and Pletenivka areas. Russian military command is deploying "Akhmat" units to the northern part of Vovchansk.
On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces advanced south of Pishchane, launched offensives near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Hlushkivka, Kolisnykivka, Stelmakhivka, Novoserhiivka, towards Lozova, and near Andriivka, Tverdokhlibove, Druzhelyubivka, and Cherneshchyna.
Ukrainian Defense Forces maintain some positions in Synkivka.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked near Nevske, Novosadove, Hrekivka, Makiivka, Dibrova, and in the area of the Serebriansk Forest.
On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces continued offensive actions near Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Ivano-Dariivka, Vyimka, and Zvanivka.
On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops made minor advances toward eastern Hryhorivka, continued offensive actions near Chasiv Yar, Kalynivka, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Andriivka, Klishchiivka, and Predtechyne.
On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces captured Pivnichne, continued offensives around Toretsk and Nelipivka. Over the past week, the enemy advanced up to 1 km towards Toretsk Correctional Colony No. 2, completed the capture of Zalizne, moved 500 meters towards the Toretsk Tuberculosis Dispensary and Psychiatric Hospital, and expanded their wedge by 250-500 meters on the Yuriivka – New York – Nelipivka direction towards the left flank, Panteleimonivka, and Sukha Balka.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces advanced south of Karlivka, captured the Pokrovsk Water Filtration Station, northern Halytsynivka, Dolynivka, entered Zhelanne Pershe, moved closer to Ukrainsk and Lisivka, and continued offensive actions in eastern Selydove, near Vozdvyzhenka, Hrodivka, Zelene Pole, Novohrodivka, Marynivka, Myrolyubivka, Mykhailivka, Selydove, Karlivka, Dolynivka, Halytsynivka, Zhelanne Pershe, Ukrainsk, and Lisivka. The enemy persistently attacks along the Memryk – Lisivka direction, attempting to break through to the eastern outskirts of Ukrainsk, on the Mykhailivka – Selydove direction. Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups operate near Myrnohrad, while Russian aviation delivers powerful airstrikes on the city.
Forward elements of the 90th Tank Division of the 41st Army, supported by units of the 27th Motorized Rifle Division of the 2nd Army and the 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army, continue to steadily compress "Tavriya" OSG defense southeast of Selydove, which is significantly hindering their advance on Pokrovsk. The 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army has advanced in the southern part of Halytsynivka and is attempting to capture the village. Forward elements of the 27th Motorized Rifle Division and the 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army have only advanced in the northwestern part of Novohrodivka towards Sukhyi Yar, along the Zhuravka River towards Zhuravka – Krasnyi Yar, up to 1-1.2 km.
The enemy effectively stopped in other sectors of the 2nd Army's operational zone, towards Vozdvyzhenka and even partially further in the 41st Army's operational zone.
On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces advanced in the fields west of Krasnohorivka and southwest of the town, attacked near Heorhiivka.
On the Vremivka direction, Russian forces advanced northwest of Kostyantynivka, north of Urozhaine, near Pryiutne, approached closer to Vodyane from positions along the O0532 Kostyantynivka – Vuhledar highway, continued offensive actions in the Kostyantynivka and Vuhledar areas, and assaulted Ukrainian Defense Forces positions near Vremivka.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attempted to advance north of Robotyne, assaulting near Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka.
In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
Mediterranean Sea: 2 ships, including 1 cruise missile carrier; the total salvo is 8 cruise missiles.
Changes in the enemy disposition:
At least one company from the 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Combined Arms Army was redeployed from the Pokrovsk direction to Kursk Oblast, and another company from the 1st Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Combined Arms Army was moved from the Toretsk direction. It is likely that these units were part of the reserves on their respective directions.
The 1427th Motorized Rifle Regiment of Territorial Troops, the "Kashtan" unit of the "Akhmat" regiment, and the "Arbat" unit of the "Russian Volunteer Corps" are engaged in combat operations near Nechaevo in Kursk Oblast.
The following units are active in Kursk Oblast: the 810th Separate Marines Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet, the 11th and 83rd Separate Air Assault Brigades, the 56th Air Assault Regiment of the 7th Airborne Division, and the "Shir" unit of the "Russian Volunteer Corps."
Elements of the 67th Motorized Rifle Division of the 25th Combined Arms Army are engaged in combat operations on the Lyman direction near Torske.
The 3rd Army Corps is active on the Siversk direction.
The 74th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st Combined Arms Army is conducting operations on the Toretsk direction.
The 90th Tank Division of the 41st Combined Arms Army and the 27th Motorized Rifle Division of the 2nd Combined Arms Army are advancing southeast of Selydove. The 30th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Combined Arms Army is operating in the Lozuvatka area on the Pokrovsk direction.
Escalation indicators:
A steady increase in the number of combat engagements along the entire front line.
Possible operation situation developments:
Without the involvement of additional forces and resources, the enemy's 41st Army Command will soon have to either concentrate on narrower directions and sectors or abandon simultaneous offensive actions across the entire operational zone and focus on high-cost battles in Toretsk itself or conclude combat operations in the area of New York and Nelipivka.
The enemy's command on the theater of war must conduct strategic regrouping between operational zones and reinforce the "Tsentr (Center)"Operational Grouping on the Toretsk direction with at least a corps. For this purpose, the 3rd Army Corps may be redeployed to this direction from the Kramatorsk direction, or the main forces of the 51st Army may be concentrated.
The enemy’s shift of their main offensive focus to the southern sector of the "Tsentr (Center)" Operational Grouping’s operational zone on the Pokrovsk direction will soon intensify combat operations around Selidove, Ukrainsk, Halytsynivka, Kurakhivka, and Hirnyk.
The enemy's "Tsentr (Center)" Operational Grouping may attempt to advance through "Tavriya" OSG positions along the Novohrodivka-Hrodivka line, despite higher levels of casualties, in order to maintain the speed of their advance and try to capture Myrnohrad more quickly.
On the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy will likely attempt to cut off the Pokrovsk–Kostyantynivka highway and prepare for an assault on the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration. It can be assumed that the enemy will reach the city by mid-September, but they will not be able to capture it. The open terrain, which is unfavorable for an offensive, and potential counterattacks from the Selydove and Kostyantynivka areas will slow their advance.
Without securing the Selidove area, the enemy cannot sustain their offensive towards Pokrovsk, but they will continue attacking in an attempt to breach the defensive line along the Zhuravka and Kazennyi Torets rivers.
The command of the enemy's "Tsentr (Center)" Operational Grouping must choose between two options for continuing the offensive: either to break through Pokrovsk and the smaller villages east and southeast of Pokrovsk, or to encircle the city. The decision on how to capture Pokrovsk will depend on where Ukrainian Defense Forces deploy their reserves.
Successful enemy advances will force "Tavriya" OSG units to withdraw from Karlivka, areas north of Krasnohorivka, and positions near Nevelske.
If the enemy's pressure from the north does not cease, the "Tavriya" OSG units will soon have to withdraw from Karlivka, Nevelske, and the area north of Krasnohorivka, and holding the Ukrainsk – Halytsynivka line will become critically important, otherwise, the enemy will be able to achieve an operational breakthrough.
On the Krasnohorivka – Kurakhivka direction, the 5th and 110th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades of the enemy's 51st Army will intensify their activities in the near future.
By the end of this year, the enemy will not only fail to occupy Donetsk Oblast within its administrative borders but also will be unable to seize the "fortress belt" of Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka-Kramatorsk-Slovyansk. The upcoming battle for Pokrovsk will be the climax of the enemy's offensive operation in the Southwestern Theater of Operations in 2024.
