The 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 3rd Combined Arms Army is engaged in combat southwest of Bilohorivka.
The 71st, 1455th Motorized Rifle Regiments, the 417th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division, and the 291st Artillery Brigade of the 58th Combined Arms Army operate near Novodanylivka.
Possible operation situation developments:
The plan for the enemy's spring-summer offensive campaign in the Southwestern Theater of Operations may be as follows: a simultaneous breakthrough towards Kostyantynivka and Druzhkivka from the south and southeast (from the direction of Toretsk and Vozdvyzhenka), as well as from the northeast (from the direction of Chasiv Yar), followed by an advance towards Kramatorsk from the south while simultaneously advancing towards Slovyansk with the forces of the 20th and 25th Combined Arms Armies of the "Zapad (West)" Operational Grouping through Lyman.
In the near future, the command of the enemy's "Zapad (West)" Operational Grouping will focus on the Lyman direction, where the troops of the 20th and 25th Combined Arms Armies have achieved significant tactical success. It is expected that reinforcements and reserves allocated to the "Zapad (West)" Operational Grouping will primarily be directed to the operational zones of these two armies.
The enemy cannot establish a full-fledged buffer zone on the border of Kursk and Sumy Oblasts, so the simplest option may be an invasion of Sumy Oblast by a grouping of 22,000–27,000 military personnel along the Sumy–Sudzha highway within a 35–40 km-wide zone (stretching from Zhuravka to Myropillya). This territory has already been turned into a buffer zone by Ukrainian Defense Forces, which will greatly complicate enemy actions.
Ukrainian Defense Forces may launch an offensive in the direction of Lyman Pershyi – Horobivka – Tavilzhanka, which, if successful, will lead to either the enemy's rapid retreat from the Dvorichna bridgehead or its encirclement there. Such a development would result in the loss of combat capability of the entire enemy's 6th Combined Arms Army.
On the Kramatorsk direction, the envelopment of Chasiv Yar from the south by advancing toward Stupochky will be a priority for the command of the 3rd Combined Arms Army and the 98th Airborne Division of the enemy.
The operational plan of the 8th Combined Arms Army on the Kostyantynivka direction is to envelop the tactical group of the "Khortytsia" OSG, which is defending south of Kostyantynivka between Oleksandropil and Tarasivka from the flanks. The enemy aims to encircle and destroy this group or, if unable to do so, force it to withdraw from the area south of Kostyantynivka in a northwestern direction under the threat of encirclement. The ultimate goal of these actions is a two-pronged breakthrough from the southwest and southeast toward the area of Stepanivka – Berestok – Pleshchiivka – Yablunivka, followed by a simultaneous assault on Kostyantynivka from this area and from the direction of Chasiv Yar. After the reaching the Poltavka–Pleshchiivka line, the enemy’s 3rd Combined Arms Army, reinforced by an airborne forces group, will attempt a rapid breakthrough from the bridgehead on the Siverskyi Donets–Donbas canal in the Chasiv Yar area, advancing from the northeast toward Kostyantynivka.
On the Novopavlivka direction, an offensive is expected to begin towards Rozdolne–Odradne or Rozdolne–Bahatyr, carried out by the 57th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 5th Combined Arms Army.

Humanitarian + general:
The night of April 1 was the first in 2025 when Russia did not carry out a massive kamikaze drone attack. However, the Russians did not refrain from striking Ukraine: from evening until morning, the enemy continued shelling Nikopol. Three private homes, infrastructure, and an administrative building were damaged. The enemy also continues round-the-clock strikes with tactical aviation using guided aerial bombs on frontline areas.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that Russia continues to violate the agreement on the "energy truce." In the morning, the occupiers struck an energy facility in Kherson, leaving 45,000 residents without electricity.
Around 19:00, in the Dnipro district of Kherson, Russian forces attacked a woman with a drone. She was taken to the hospital with injuries. Around 13:20, Russian forces attacked another woman in Kherson with a drone; she is in critical condition. At approximately 11:30, Russian forces attacked a man with a UAV while he was walking down the street in Antonivka. He suffered blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to his leg. He was hospitalized in moderate condition. The number of people wounded in the regional center the previous day has also increased—two more individuals sought medical attention.
On April 1, the Russian army shelled the Nikopol district in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast about thirty times, injuring three people.
In Donetsk Oblast, at least one person was killed, and one was injured due to Russian shelling on April 1.
The number of shelling incidents in Kharkiv in March doubled compared to February. The city's situational center recorded 42 attacks and 172 air raid alerts—an average of five per day. In recent weeks, Russia has changed its tactics. Shahed drones enter Kharkiv's airspace in groups and carry out combined strikes on residential areas, critical infrastructure, and businesses. Then, 30-40 minutes later, when rescuers, medics, police, and utility services are already on-site, the enemy strikes again. According to the city mayor, 99 Kharkiv residents were injured in enemy attacks over the month, including 12 children. Two people were killed.
In the first three months of 2025, Russian tactical aviation dropped 10,577 guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian territory, according to the Ministry of Defense website. In March, the Russian Air Force increased its use of guided bombs—approximately 4,800 (compared to 3,370 in February). The number of combat engagements on the front line also increased in March compared to February: 4,270 versus 3,274.
The analytical project DeepState calculated that in March, Russian forces occupied 133 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. Compared to November, the monthly territorial losses have decreased nearly sixfold. However, this does not mean that the Russians have reduced the number of attacks and are simply waiting for ceasefire negotiations. On the contrary, the occupiers have resumed offensive operations in several directions.
64% of Ukrainians consider Europe an ally that seeks peace on acceptable terms. Regarding the United States, the opinion is the opposite—67% believe that America is tired of Ukraine and is pressuring Kyiv to make concessions to the aggressor. These are the findings of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in February-March.
Most Ukrainians do not believe in a just peace under Donald Trump's presidency. In December 2024, 31% of respondents expected an unjust peace, but by March 2025, this figure had risen to 55%. Overall, attitudes toward the American leader have worsened: 73% of respondents consider his presidency negative for Ukraine.
